Which is your favorite of one of the greatest song's by the stones?

"Well my heavy throbbers itchin' just to lay a solid rhythm down"

I love the single version but the definitive for me is live from Ya-Ya's or Handsome Girls with long, long, loong intro smiling smiley

and one of the better-played old tunes in the band's latter days, too. I'm always very positive when it comes up on boots... if you listen closely to HTW on Paris Olympia 2003, Keith rolls a very sexy solo! smiling smiley

HTW on Love you Live for me very close second is Ya Ya's. While I'm on, if any of you guitarists know how to play the solo from Love You Live I would love to learn it - there is a guy who does it spot on on youtube but i still cant get it!

1) Ya Yas

2) Love you Live/ Leeds 71

3) single studio version/country Honk

As you can see, I can;t decide.

I love Mick Taylors guitar on the Ya Yas version. That's what I call lead guitar.

I'd say the 69 live version from Gimme Shelter - without that god-awful obvious vocal over-dub. I never liked that 'sailors' verse.

What's up w. the sailor's versre anyway?

Why is it in there?

Was it a left over lyric that Mick wanted to use or what?

"Well my heavy throbbers itchin' just to lay a solid rhythm down"

Nothing can touch the studio version. I really like the Handsome Girls-versions of HTW the most of the live versions.

the "sailor verse" was in an early demo version and it's pretty evident that the Mick likes it -
he included it at at least one 2007 show. fine with me - "naked as the day that i will die" is a great line :E

In some of the early 1969 tour shows I've heard, they play/sing all three verses. Maybe Oakland, and I'm pretty sure at San Diego.
