Mick will be playing the songs that influenced the band as well as artists who inspired Exile On Main Street, this coming Monday, May 31 on BBC 2.

Obviously influencing their initial sound there's going to be some Chuck Berry, Muddy Waters and Bo Diddley. If he has time I'm sure we'll get The Temptations, Buddy Holly, Elvis, James Brown, Don Covay, Arthur Alexander and a host of other blues and r'n'b greats.

As for the inspiration behind Exile obviously there's Slim Harpo, Dr John, Robert Johnson, Gram Parsons, but I also hear Buck Owens, Lightnin' Hopkins, Aretha, Johnny Burnette and the Rock n Roll Trio.

Be interesting to see what he plays.

Was it in Copenhagen or somewhere in Denmark? I seem to remember reading about that. Can you remember any of the artists they mentioned?

There's also that bonus CD of Keith's called The Devil's Music from a few years ago - now there was a really good selection:

TRACKS :
1 - Amos Milburn - Down The Road Apiece
2 - Jackie Brenston - Rocket
3 - Robert Johnson - Preachin' Blues (Up Jumped The Devil)
4 - Muddy Waters - Rollin' Stone
5 - Jimmy Rogers - Goin' Away Baby
6 - Leadbelly - The Midnight Special
7 - Clarence 'Gatemouth' Brown - Okie Dokie Stomp
8 - Clifton Chenier - Ay-Te Te Fee
9 - Professor Longhair & His Shuffling Hungarians - Mardi Gras In New Orleans
10 - Little Richard - Good Golly Miss Molly
11 - Billie Holiday - He's Funny That Way
12 - John Lee Hooker - I'm In The Mood
13 - Bob Marley & The Wailers - Jah Is Mighty
14 - Hank Williams - You Win Again
15 - Ike & Tina Turner - I Can't Believe What You Say
16 - BB King - Everyday I Have The Blues
17 - T-Bone Walker - (They Call It) Stormy Monday
18 - Howlin' Wolf - Moanin' At Midnight
19 - Blind Willie McTell - Talkin' To Your Mama
20 - Clarence 'Bon Ton' Garlow - Bon Ton Roulet
21 - Aaron Neville - Tell It Like It Is
22 - Albert King - That's What The Blues Is All About
23 - Irma Thomas - Ruler Of My Heart
24 - Otis Redding - Pain In My Heart (alt. take)
25 - Booker T & The MGs - Baby, Scratch My Back
26 - Al Green - Take Me To The River .

I hope Mick doesn't give in to his usual temptation to prove how up to date he is and play lots of new stuff - some, yes, but not too much.
