Yeah I never paid attention to green day, they certainly rocked it out; not bad, not great,

but WHY WHY WHY is that guy signing

"Dick and Pat in 'ol D.C., well they're gunna hold some shit for me."

Shouldn't he change it to Barrack and Michelle??? Does he even know who Dick and Pat are?

Just saying . . .

...i think this is a new low for the board.... The Stones receiving a ton of props....in some cases major bands doing covers on a national TV show and peeps are criticising the performances....i don't see how any of this can be bad.

"peeps"? i've been a memeber of this board for 5 years now, not exactly peeping here

maumau, I believe by "peeps" Rip This means "people" (American slang, and usually implies a fondness for the people you're referring to, like "my peeps" is my family or friends or people I identify with)

Really surprised of the hate for Green Day's performance. They're not a favorite band of mine, but it's a hard song to pull off and make it sound TIGHT, which I think they did a fine job of. Sure, maybe a Stones-wannabe band like Black Crowes could have done a more note for note cover, but I'd just as soon hear these guys do it.

Green Day played RTJ far better than the Stones ae capable of doing these days. I know facts hurt don't they?

"It's just some friends of mine and they're busting down the door"

good point... especially considering that I think he changed
"Slip it right across into Buffalo"
to
"Slip it right across into Mexico"
I'd have to listen to it again to check (if I can stand it.)

The guy is 6 years older than me and I am well aware of who Dick and Pat is.

Green Day may not be some people's cup of tea, but they are hugely popular and these types of performances help introduce the Stones to a new generation of music fans.

I agree...they pulled off an excellent cover, and made it sound very much their own.

They also changed "Alabam" to "San Fran".

The houseband really did SAl great justice; good dynamics, I love that Roots drummer.

not as stones-oriented as the first night.

i wonder what "better" means in this context
my criticism of gd's rtj was not "they did it bad"
i was just expressing my taste on the kind of music that band play and how far it is, imho, from what i feel and consider the core of my favourite band's style which I define the "roll" pretty much following the meaning Keith himself gives to that word
There's nothing that hurts here

Keith Urban actually did a great job on Tumbling Dice....perhaps since he had the 7th stone Chuck Leavell on keyboards? lol

While Keith Urban didn't suck, IMHO, I don't think it approached the 2 performances from last night. Those were actually exciting, tonight was competent.
Chuck on keyboards...

Funny, I thought Green Day were great and Taj Mahal sucked. Opinions - I guess everyone is entitled to one.

mick was hilarious in the Lost parody skit with all those microphones.

it would have been nicer if they had the extra guests play with the Roots each night.

I actually agree with you on that. Taj seemed to begoing through the motions and I'm not all that crazy about the Roots. Thought Keith Urban did a good, fun version of TD.
