New Mick Taylor on Deluxe Exile?
Posted by: donvis ()

I am still confused. Was Mick Taylor asked to contribute to the new unreleased Exile tracks? And if so, did he record any new material like Mick and Keith did?

Couldn't add your confusion to the existing thread?

The question to Don Was:

I heard a rumor somewhere that you guys brought in Mick Taylor to overdub some things. Is that true at all?

The answer:
I'm not saying it's not true. I'm simply not going to deny.

That's all we have...so we're all "confused."

The thread police stike again.

Perhaps Donvis didn't read that thread that could have been (based on the title of the thread) a 23 page debate on the number of tracks.

Maybe a new thread specific to MT's contributions is ok???

They should have asked Don if Ron Wood was overdubbing stuff. Here's hoping he has not, since he had nothing to do with the album in the 1st place.

Taylor? Well, we will know when the experts have listened to the archive stuff that made it onto the package.

Interesting point. If they don't specifically credit him, how will we know if MT did new overdubs?

I don't think that a new thread regarding the new Exile and Mick Taylor was that big a deal. After all, Mick Taylor is a separate subject these days, right? And after 23 pages I can't always find the answer to a simple yes or no question.

I agree!!! cant see the problem herethumbs up

A key insider actually confirmed Taylor's new studio participation in the 23-page thread and implicitly indicated Jagger was in the studio at the time.

The question now is: did he receive any writing credits at all? winking smiley

let's see - adding new guitar parts and vocals to 40 year old songs - hmmm.....yeah, that sounds like a winner. i'm hoping for some old louis armstrong recordings from the 20's to get some modern dubs too so i can really enjoy some authenticity......

Yes, by all means let's have another crap "new" album instead.

Missing point being that Louis Armstrong is long gone.....

As for StonesTod's rhetorical question: "these are our only two choices??" the answer is of course that we don't have any choice at all but to buy or not to buywinking smiley

When I said in another Exile thread (one of the 1543 ones) that the hottest news was that Jagger's favourite album is NOT BB but SF I meant that we don't know much more now. The final answers will maybe be given in May, but even that is dubious. Certainly when it concerns MT. Boy, can anyone tell what's wrong with that guy??

Fifty Licks? Snorting In The Eighties? Another hits comp could always pop up.

No, choices are:
Another crap new album
Another rehash compilation of "hits"
Another half-baked live album (73rd live version of Brown Sugar, anyone?)
Another "rarities" album with no rarities.

Given the above, the EOMS reissue sounds downright exciting. Especially with engaged Jagger and possible new Taylor.

Which of the 24 pages of the original thread mentioned that Mick Taylor really did overdubs on the deluxe version since I am so ignorant that I started this redundant thread?

Do a search for posts by 'TeddyB1018' and you'll get them all, theyve featured on the various Exile threads over the last 4-6 weeks or so.

It's not beyond the realm of possibility. It seems they were planning to not reveal this until the release date.
Maybe that's also why Don Fagenson got a little pale around the nose when you put the question to him ?

You're a fine one to talk,Lightnin'. Look what you revealed about Jagger fined for dancing in the studio.

Comment was made in jest (regarding the fine). The dancing was real... but not my revelation. A Mr Thunders broke the news on that.

The bonus disc of Exile is more like Tattoo You 2.

For Tattoo You they went through the leftovers from 1973 - 1980.
For the bonusdisc of Exile they worked with leftovers from mid-1969
until Spring 1972, totally ignoring that some of the tracks were
done for LIB and SF in the first place.

Jagger added guitar, percussion and new vocals. He also wrote
some new lyrics and re-titled and edited songs.
Richards and Taylor did some guitar overdubs. All with Don Was
producing, who wasn't even there during the original sessions.

Nevertheless, I'm more than excited to hear those tracks.

I was kidding too, Lightnin'. Unless its legal, I rarely post anything here that isn't said tongue in cheek.
