While listening to 'I'm Gonna Drive' I noticed one thing -it's stated everywhere on the net that Keith Richards does backup vocals, but it clearly is Ronnie. Am I hearing ghosts?
Yes, that's definitely Ronnie alone. With a good harmony btw. Again I notice though how the Keith of today just can't let Ronnie solo in peace. It's after the first time that Ron's vocal shows up; I would say it is pretty certain that the two electrics were cut live together. Ron clearly lays out to let Keith take one; then it is his turn, he starts laying it down, and don't you know it - here comes Keith climbing up the register, walking over Ronnie's little moment. He always does this nowadays.
Listening to this song, made me realize why I don't think "Laugh I Nearly Died" is really THAT good. At first I thought right away that LIND was the best one off of ABB. But something was bothering me about the song; could not put my finger on it. Then I realized that it is this kind of piling on of world weary traveller telling that Jagger does really well; but a bit too often. "Wandering Spirit", I Go Wild" towards the end, "Im Gonna Drive". I don't know..maybe no one else feels it, but they all come on as chips off the same block to me.
