So youve been a fan for just 6 years out of the last 30?

It's easy to boycot something that isn't availlable.
I do it all the time.

I just try to put some "spice" in this discussion about the NEW album (I already did see the show and it's great, but is that really a NEW album? IMO that's too easy).

a few McCarney fans from 77 will boycot a new stones album
but never a real stones fan - but who cares

That's the beauty of a free society. If you don't want it ...STAY THE HELL AWAY! Those of us who do, will buy it with our money, not yours, so you should have no objections to that. It certainly doesn't bother me that you're NOT going to buy it.

Very funny....yeah it's so funny...that you can make people 'mad', by just telling them that I will boycot this NEW album...there is so much agression...(which is a good inspiration for artists....one morning you'll wake up and you write a song and ...mmmm.....let's call it midnight rambler).

What have made you stay around for 20+ years? And why do you give up on an album you do know nothing about? What do you need to get satisfied by the Stones? I am just curious. Thanks!

I already listened to the Beacon Theatre set....it's great...but is not really a NEW album.....it's just a recording of a gig....
And what made me around for 20+ years? Just listening to their back-catalogue and the secret vaults, over and over again, which will never bore me...

Ciao Bjornulf!

So make any suggenstions, what like would be the perfect "new" album?
I mean, I live-document just can be a live-document. Not more. Not less.

Well, here's retired_dog's advice to avoid any disapointments:

1. Try to get the album free at first and listen.

2. In case it's shit, erase it from your hard drive or destroy your burnt copy.

3. In case it's good, go out and buy it.

I'm going to download this album and then probably erase it since I'm getting fed up with all these live cds released from the Stones in recent years containing the same old song and dance.

I'm buying it in every frickin' form they choose to release it on.
BTW: I have a recording from Danish TV saying that the Shine A Light soundtrack (Which it was called) will be out in March. Is this true?

In March, The Stones will release a CD to accompany the Martin Scorsese film Shine a Light, in which they are filmed playing two live gigs at New York’s Beacon Theatre, with cameo apperances from Christine Aguilera and Jack White. It will be released by Universal’s Polydor label.

I really can't understand how anyone who claims to be a hardcore stones fan expects a set of live songs recorded from two fantastic shows, to be 'pure crap'...

In some other thread some people are playing with semantics that it is not 'just another live record' but a 'soundtrack' which is completely a different thing... Some are living in hope that Universal might release it in a nicer package, and maybe even promote it better, and thereby, we will have a more profile Stones product in our hands.

But as far as I am concerned we will get the same old shite - live versions of their biggest hits plus few obscurities - just in a different package. Just another musically worthless product to add to collections. Yes, I will by it - but not until summer or next year when the price is more decent. To this day, I haven't been able to give another listen to LIVE LICKS or whatever it was called, their latest live album. I have find it very hard to barely listen the band in their current condition without having a footage. I hope the actual film is a good one.

Aah... isn't that great that it is a free world, and one can express own opinion without the fare of being crusified, burned, being accused of whining or something?grinning smiley

Really? take a closer look once again at the track listing of live Stones albums of past 20 years, since Flashpoint. Then Stripped and No Security and finally Live Licks. So what is your conclusion?

well it's possible. Of course I dont know if everything is pure crap on it, the original versions and many older and maybe more recent live versions of the songs are probably great but I doubt this record will be good. I hope Im wrong. I wanna be moved by their music again.
