It's from the first Paris show, "Angie"is the only song they broadcasted from June 4th.
But what's with the awful hiss ?

Well, in 1975 they still believed that they were playing it really really well ... until someone played them those KBFH broadcasts from 1973 just before the tour start in 1976!

A pleasant surprise this. Keith not too wasted. Pity about the grandiose organ solo, but I prefer that to Chuck's stuff.

The worst bit is when Jagger turns it into theatre by announcing a guitar solo.

It's like the 'need' to announce the title of a song just before you're about to play it.

Anyone got a Fool To Cry clip handy?

the organ solo is one of the best parts of this version IMO, as it is on the Brussels version. even though this has woody instead of taylor to me this is very similar to brussels.

Back in the late 70's, they broadcast that Paris 76 show on Canadian TV. Anyone know what the video is called and how to get a copy?

All songs broadcasted from Paris + the June 6th show can be found on DVD...without the hiss.

Hi Ryanpow,

Yes, Keith is 'on' on this one and quite close to his '73 self.
Jagger's vocals were far better in '73. And the'73 versions 'flowed'. This '76 version is a bit disjointed by comparison. But a pleasure - I didn't think they did it as a regular in '76. Maybe they did. My earls Court show was one of my lowest Stones moments that i just don't recall if they did it. Fool To Cry was good though, even at EC.

Can't remember the Brussells show. I have one of the Wembley '73 shows and can't recall a Preston solo. But I am biased - my feeling is that by '75-'76 they are relying on him too much - or he is intruding too much. Better than Chuck though. He could dance!

I've just noticed that Jagger 'announces' the organ solo too.

Bill' sound is just great.

I never understand why on earth 'Taylorites' have to slate RW at every oppotunity.

It does get VERY tedious....

Me too. This solo has the same melodic quality as his solo on Wild Horses from Knebworth, which is one of the best performances of this song.

This is indeed a fine performance of the song.

I don't think Ronnie messes up the solo. But it's not great. His fills during the song are fine. The song is the '73 live version, on which 'saint' Taylor plays. It's hard not to compare the two. Ronnie keeps pretty close to the Taylor style - except his solo is more bouncy. Not outstanding but not rubbish either.

I didn't think and don't think his Knebworth solo on WH was wonderful. I really liked his vocal contribution there though.

Anybody got a '76 Fool To Cry?

And for good measure, ablett, you are as predictable and tedious as the "Taylorites" whom you berate. Nothing positive to say, matey? MTfan did have.

The ONLY good live version of this song is Brussels '73.

Well criticism where criticism is due - and Ronnie got his fair share from my side in the last couple of years, but there is absolutely no need to put him down when he simply does not deserve it. This Angie version is indeed the 1973 live arrangement and it comes pretty close to 1973 versions, a fact that really took me by surprise when I first heard 1976 versions of Angie some decades ago because in general, in 1975/1976 the band indeed quite different from the one in 1973! Yes, of course, it's not Taylor who's playing on this 1976 version, yes, of course, it's Ronnie, and it's good, and everybody who expects him to play exactly the same solo, the same notes as Taylor somehow misses the point.

It's really when he actually tries to copy Taylor note for note when he fails to impress me, like on BTB tour live versions of Love In Vain where he just sounds like a cover band guitar player.

I think Ronnie's solo is excellent. Dammit - it's RONNIE! Not MICK TAYLOR. So what!

If anything, it's MICK JAGGER that's bad. The spots for the solos aren't so bad as y'all think...just a nice little nod...

Personally, no matter how good - I've got a live 73 version that is quite aggressive - I can't stand the damn song no matter who it is.

Oh yeah, Ronnie I have no problem with on this track. Mick crucified the vocals on this song in 75/76. Was he doing it on purpose?

I like Billy's solo.

Mick is so vampy campy dramatic...it's too much. The boot I have from the Urban Jungle tour they FLY through it but Ronnie's solo is fantastic actually.
