OT: is a moustache a beard?
Posted by: Lorenz ()

So, Mick had a full beard during the 70ies (or 80ies), Keith had some kind of a moustache at the beginning of the Biggest Bang tour. Strictly speaking, is a moustache just kind of beard or are moustaches and beard different? Funny question, I know...

The definition is dependant on where the growth is taking place.

If it is solely above the lip area, then that is a moustache. If it is round the chin area, then it can be classified as a beard.

agreed, neither looks good on chicks. and actually, neither looks good on most of the Stones. The only Stone who looked cool with a bit more facial hair was Charlie with his short hair and 5-o'clock-shadow in the late 70ies around Miss You. Thanks for getting me the definition/distinction of moustache and beard winking smiley

Exactly when does a beard become a beard?

Do those guys with the "stubble" look actually have a beard?

We really need to address this. eye rolling smiley

Coming to me in the morning, leaving me at night.
Coming to me in the morning, leaving me alone.
You've got that rainbow feel but the rainbow has a beard.

Running to me a-cryin' when he throws you out.
Running to me a-cryin', on your own again.
You've got that pure feel, such good responses,
But the picture has a moustache.

Cream.

- Has anyone ever explained Charlie's mustache from the Got Live If You Want It Cover, and why the hell he appeared to be using a microphone in same photo?

- Paul McCartney on picture enclosed with the White Album: beard or not a beard? Is this the same growth that spouted into the famous "Let It Be" beard (not to be confused with the "I'm leaving The Beatles" beard of a year later - as Abbey Road was a beardless interregnum).

Charlie used to introduce 1 song of the set in the 60s; I took it that the photo is shot in such a moment.

I wish Charlie would do that again.

I thought he might do it in Houston '05, when Charlie came out from behind the drum set during introductions.
Mick put a ten-gallon cowboy hat on Charlie, Charlie laughed for a second then got back behind his drums.

It would be a shock if he did it.... I reckon there could be quite a few heartattacks out there in the stadium if it happened, especially since the audience are getting older, just like the band....probably the reason Charlie choose to let it be

On the Hawaii 66 boot, Charlie famously introduces a song they'd just played. Says a lot . . .

lol, no...the background is that I was playing a board game with my girlfriend and it involved guessing people according to their looks. I considered a mustache to be a kind of beard.
