I like this Album---more as GHS. "If you cant rock me" is one of their best "Album-openers"--beside Exiles "Rocks off!". "Time waits for no-one is a classic.

Fingerprint File... great psychedelic funk tune a la Dr. John... Love that song, and also Luxury (love the pseudo-reggae groove)... and I agree Time Waits for No One is a classic! Even the song IORR has a really great groove that is completely lost on stage. It's a really rhythmic album, a good guitar album, with a variety of influences.

I don't believe that it's underrated, I think it's a great album!

...well, if you mean Short And Curlies should have been replaced at the time of release, probably yes, but, its strange, if they would change the tracklist now and replace Short And Curlies with, lets say Drift Away or some other tracks, I would miss it. I lived with this album, just like with tons of other albums for such a long time now that any change would make me feel a bit, uh, uncomfortable. Still havent learned to live with The Crunge from Led Zeps Houses Of The Holy album until now, it goes on my nerves now the same way it went on my nerves 36 years ago, same with Back To Zero from Dirty Work.

Lester Bangs said that Black and Blue was the first Stones album that didn't matter. I think he was two years too late with that assesment.

But TWFNO cannot be over-rated. A cooking masterpiece. F File is masterful.
The rest - call the toxic waste disposal unit.

I think it's rated about right - not over or under. There are great moments on it along with a couple of unfortunate fillers. The problem was the standard they had established through Exile (and even GHS) could not be maintained and this album was the first evidence of that. But I would love them to put out an album of this quality now.

Yes I see what you mean - would be too late to replace Short And Curlies at this point. When listening to S&C, I get the "look forward to Fingerprint File" -mood.....it wouldn't suit me either to mix it up after all these years - by replacing
By all means....it's not a terrible song; like Back To Zero - it's just a "filler".....doesn't bring up anything the listener can pay attention to.

The inclusion of "Ain't Too Proud To Beg" is probably the reason they left out "Drift Away"
Just like "Stricktly Memphis" was dumped for "Harlem Shuffle"

L.O. has never understood the bashing of Short And Curlies. However, album song order could be challenged....

eh eh ... one point... I love "it's only" ah, "dance little sister" , and I do love "GODDESS in the doorway", underrated by some people ...

the only song I could care less about on it is IyCRM.
Its cool live but the studio version is a weak opener. It doesn't do much for me.

great album.

I quite agree. When this album was released it was the 'return to the roots' for the Stones. Believe me, this was a HUGE album. It's one of their best, esp. the mix.
