The coked up helicopter/car scene in goodfellas with the medley of "Gimme Shelter" / "Monkey Man" / "Memo From Turner".

My favorite Film ever with an amazing Soundtrack to match.

Have to agree with this. I haven't seen the movie in a few years now, but isn't there some Muddy Waters mixed in there too. Pretty excellent.

Yeah there's some fast editing going on with the music during this scene. You got the first few seconds of Mannish Boy, literally the spoken bit 'Everything gonna be alright this morning' and then it cuts straight to 'What Is Life' (George Harrison). Amazing scenes with an incredibly well thought out soundtrack!

"Comming Home" is my favorit, lots of Stones music, and the best is: "Out of Time"

That's my favorite too. Probably because I saw this on TV in 1980 and I had just become a Stones fans. Also Satisfaction from Apocalypse Now and the black guy get all excited. The opening of Blow was good.
Anybody remember Fool to Cry in Beautiful Girls or Play With Fire in a Diane Keaton?

I'm not a fan of rock or pop music is films unless its used correctly. Too often its random and makes no sense - its just an excuse to put a cool song in a movie, ala Cameron Crow. Its more a director using his favorite songs but its often out of character for the lead character....
For example, Let it Loose in both the Departed and Beyond the Sea....
In the Scorsese movie, its on a jukebox and you can't really hear it. I think Scorsese just liked the song and shoehorned it in there - and that bugs me. The Sotnes in Mean Streets worked better.
And the Bobby Darin pic - it made no sense at all. The scene was set in like 67, Darin, as played by Kevin Spacey, is having some kind of breakdown from drugs or something - and they play the whole song with him just freaking out....Made no sense at all.
Directors do it so much it cliche.
Tarantino is the only one who does it right. In the opening of Pulp Fiction, the local radio station is having an "oldies/70s weekend" and so that plays through the movie - but he sets up a reason for all those songs to be heard,......
otherwise, its a lazy way to make a movie look cool and an excuse not to have dialogue.

Shine A Light...

Zabriskie Point (spare yourself the bother of seeing it - utter pants)

Maybe so, a bit self-conscious in trying to place itself within the American late 60s counterculture (coming as it did from Michelangelo Antonioni), but nonetheless a great soundtrack what with all the lost Pink Floyd tracks, particularly on the 1997 double-CD re-release. You've got to love this re-recording of Careful With That Axe, Eugene, titled in ZP as Come In Number 51, Your Time Is Up:

A surprising footnote to the film is that its male lead, Mark Frechette, wound up dying in a Boston area prison five years after its 1970 release. In 1973 he was living in the Fort Hill commune in Roxbury (he gave the $60,000 he made from ZP to the commune, run by musician and film-maker Mel Lyman) when he and two fellow commune members attempted to rob the New England Merchant's Bank there. Frechette was arrested and sentenced to a minimum security state prison in Norfolk. On September 27, 1975, he was found dead from an apparent "weightlifting accident", where a 150-pound barbell had fallen on his neck, choking him to death. Foul play was not suspected.

When appearing in Zabriskie Point, Frechette had no previous acting experience. He was discovered by Antonioni's assistant and casting director, Sally Dennison, who spotted him in the midst of a violent shouting match one day at a Boston bus stop.

Well, I can only think of two off the top of my head (if already mentioned my apologies): 'Satisfaction' in the movie Apocalypse Now and 'You Can't Always Get What you Want' in The Big Chill.

Though it seem appropriate when it starts, this becomes a gritty, violent sequence. To me ultimately an odd placement for 'Satisfaction.'

JJF [the Still Life version] is also featured in the 1982 comedy Night Shift starring Henry Winkler and Michael Keaton.
