Their studio cut of this is a killer and it smoked on the '72 tour.

Carol, but I think for the sake of Keith's fingers Let it rock which can have a 1 note solo and still sound good.

Bye Bye Johnny, Let It Rock or Sweet Little Sixteen. Little Queenie was very cool in Copenhagen 1998 so that would be neat too.

Well, considering Keith's current shattered relationship with Chuck I fear the closest thing to a Berry song on this tour is a Berry-style song like @#$%& or a Berry-style arrangement like IORR.

But if they decide to do a Berry original I'd like them to do one which they haven't played in many years like Around And Around, Carol or Let It Rock. And I always loved their 1970 live version of Roll Over Beethoven...

Speaking of this, I sometimes wonder why they use the b-stage in such an unimaginary way. This small stage always reminds me of the 60's and instead of using it to perform warhorses like Miss You, it could be used to great effect by performing a short "going back to the roots-style" set, let's say: One rock'n'roller, one blues and one soul song. One night this set could be Around And Around, Little Red Rooster, That's How Strong My Love Is - next night it could be Let It Rock, I Just Wanna Make Love To You, Pain In My Heart - the following night it could be Roll Over Beethoven, Confessin' The Blues, Heart Of Stone - see what I mean? Every night a real surprise, would keep us older fans and setlist whiners happy...

Good post, doggie....the "rape of the b-stage" on this tour has truly been a major disappointment. At its outset it represented the absolute acme of what this band is all about (or should be)...nowadays, frankly, I find it often to be the worst portion of the show.

Wuudy, I guess you know about this one allready, but it was just in the back of your head today.
It's official, from the "The Rolling Stones" EP from 1963, and also on the CD/LP More Hot Rocks. A really swingin' piece.

Ha, ha yeah now that you mentioned it, i did know about this one already of course. Because people were talking about Bye, bye Johnny from the '72 tour I thought there was a studio version recorded around those years. I totally forgot to think about the great early years, my favorite!!!

Thanks Erik Snow, always a great help!

Cheers,
Wuudy

And what a great one it is. The studio cut is so great. The tempo raises and raises but damn they can play it like a son of a bitch....
