Will U2 360 tour outgross bigger bang??

Just wondering. The concert grosses at each venue are enormous for U2. Never understood the appeal.

Well, if it does, then I guess we'll see our boys back on the road again!

They haven't break even just yet but they say it will be the biggest grossing tour ever.

Any band, U2 in particular, possibly outgrossing the Stones is not a very popular topic on this message board. I see tons of posts stating that U2 is such a shit band and not worthy to even mention in the same sentence as the Stones on the horizon....

Let's put it this way, you simply don't want to be on the same railroad tracks as these "making it up as we go along" nuts. I'm starting to appreciate any setlist from the Stones.

it will outgross ABB, but then the stones will outgross U2 the next time they go out, and the seesaw continues

but the stones are more likely to fall off the seesaw sooner than u2.

They are not even selling out shows here in the US. NO WAY it will be bigger grossing tour!

Then we'll have the recurring debate: What really makes for a successful tour? The size of the stack of bucks generated or the actual volume of seats filled.

Never understood the appeal of ANY act charging hundreds of dollars for a concert, personally.

what shows havent they sold out? at least they dont have so many empty seats that they need to lay out tarps to cover up the holes like the stones did

U2 will always be 'grosser' than the Stones

Bono is the meaning of the word GROSS.

It will be interesting to see if the Stones will take the calculated risk
to do something similar to the 360 concept which will guarantee a lot mores
seats on stadiums...on the other hand this set up will make stadiums feel
a bit empty if you are not getting the same respond as before.

In any case, is a way to meet numbers faster, something to considere when
you don't want to spend 2 full years on the road at that age.

Should U2 break the record, I can't see the Stones topping that. They'd have to play stadiums again, and they had a hard time filling them last time. I don't see them LOWERING the tix price either. I don't think people will spend that kind of $$ this time around.

I know people get very wound up on this borad on the 'Stones v U2' issue.

Really, there's no point. many of us have different tastes. predominanantly on this board it is stones fans, which is why we log-on.

But its a big world, no right or wrong anwswers. Just differences if opinions. Imformed by our different personal experiences.

Me. I love the Stones. changed my life when i was a kid. no worries. love it, live it.

go in peace. whatevet floats your boat. we are all different. sometimes its the difference that makes life exciting.

It's a beautifukl world, full of choices. I love the Stones. I hope you do too. but if you don't, much love!

Don't forget the revenue is translated from Euro to USD. The fx has sharply increased in favor of the first compared to ABB years, roughly 15 %. So restate the amount to make gross comparable. Anyway, wait till it is ended.

and dont forget stones ticket prices are much higher which helps alot towards the gross even if they dont sellout stadiums

Of course they'll outgross ABB Tour.
Last scores : 240 M$ on sept 25th 2009 (32 shows).
12 more US shows for 2009.
Another US tour in 2010.
Another european tour in 2010 (2010 tickets are sold since this morning for Horsens, Helsinki and Vienna !!).
And many gigs in Asia, Oceania and South America in the next months.
Maybe the billion dollars frontier 'll be reached at the end of the 360° Tour.

Technically yes they are selling out but here in NYC you could buy tickets outside Giants Stadium for as little as $10.00.

thats because scalpers panic at the last minute, and btw you get get ABB tix for the same price ten minutes before the show, bruce too, it happens with every band

Well that said let's not be that insecure. We are still in love with the Greatest Rock and Roll band of all time.

U2 can sold out many venues, ABBA can sell many millions of albums but they never put out anything as beautifull as Moonlight Mile.
