Number Of Concerts Attended
Posted by: Big Al ()
Date: June 5, 2009 16:09

I have a friend who keeps a database listing every concert he has attended - be it pub, theatre, stadium, field or wherever - since his first in 1977. He lists the opening act(s), main act and the price of the ticket. He has clocked up over 900 gigs thus far.

Has anyone here kept a similar kind of record? Do any here actually know how many shows they have attended?

I DON'T! thumbs down

No, I couldnt tell you. But back for years I played in bands, and generally there were other bands on the bill--so if you count all of those.... its gotta be in the thousands. Good question, though.

Although he includes the opening act(s), he still counts it as being one gig - otherwise, like with you, it would go into the thousands!

happy you.
I've been to... uhm, like 5 real concerts in my life?

Pearl Jam, 2007
the Rolling Stones, 2007
Eric Clapton, 2008
Bob Dylan, 2008
Magic Slim, 2009

I love going to shows, but where I live it's like two or three good bands a year.

if everything goes well, I will reach number 30 this year (just the "big" stadium and arena concerts)
And to the other part of the question - yes, I also keep very detailed record of the gigs I have attended. Well, it is not really a problem with this ammount...

I reckon I have done around 50+ gigs since my first - Travis, Wembley Arena - in 2001. It probably work out at around 100 different acts. I am including pub/bar gigs as well - everything counts!

I just compiled this list - from what I can remember - in the last few months, as a friend was asking me. I don't have the dates down or the ticket prices, but I suppose for most of these I could do that by looking at the tickets, which I always save and put in the booklet of the CD around which the particular band is touring to support. Some of these acts I saw when I was very young - Chuck Berry, Tommy Roe and BB King. And these along with some of the acts seen at fairs, I have no tickets for, so I'd be hard pressed to remember the year, but here's the list of whom I've seen. About 44 all in thus far.....and I know I'm missing some bands from the Lollapalooza festival and some opening acts. The number of times seen is in parenthesis...

The Rolling Stones (11)
The Strokes
Sheryl Crow
Goo Goo Dolls
Black Eyed Peas
Maroon Five
Beck (3)
Metric
The Charlatans

I am impressed !Not so much by the number of Stonesshows itself ,but by the "labs of time" between each concert .
I don't know how old you are,but did you discover the band in 1990 or the lasts 80's ?

I am a Frenchie ,as Mick affectionately called them in the Old Grey Whistle Test in 1977 .

How's Kiss in concert? That's a band I've always felt I wouldn't pay to go see em live although I like em enough, but if a friend called and said he had tickets I'd go...

Like your friend Big Al, I started keeping tabs when I went to my first concert, age 12, 32 years ago. I write the bands/venues and a rating (out of five) down in a little book. Nerdy, eh ? My wife thinks it's adorable. Anyway, just for kicks recently I added them all up and I'm around 940 at this point. Played a fair amount of shows myself so most of them are included (didn't start recording my own gigs until a few years in). And my first gig was '77 as well.

I will let somebody else count them. Some things I didn't count like watching the Hendrix impersonator on Hollywood Bl or walking into the Echo for the T Model Ford gig and after 15 mins realized I had the date wrong (no one taking my money should have been a hint...)and walked back out.

But here is the most up to date list

a more detailed page with setlists that I started on is right here but haven't even worked on it in about a year

Swaystones, I am 53. Listened to the Stones since I was very young and bought some records, just like I listened to other bands and bought their records in those days. In 1990 I suddenly realised that this could be the last time I would ever be able to see them live. So I went to see them live. That's when the virus got to me smiling smiley

One request if agreed? Please list location and date of performances attended? I find this topic interesting.

Re: Number Of Concerts Attended

I did one list some time ago.. Might dig it up a lil later.
When I arranged local festivals back in 1981-84 I must have watched
2-300 bands only by then.
As a hippy flake back in 82-88 circa I attended several hundred concerts at
Roskilde Festival and many more concerts and festivals.

Me neither. But I used to work with a guy who could prove he had zero paper-clip attrition over like a 15-year career. Not that anyone ever challenged the claim.

Hard to tell! But 17 Stones concerts.
Yes i'm just a poor schoolboy! Would like to be there every concert. Still
I regard myself as a hardcore fan. I do everything that possible to me and my financial status to attend their concerts and other activities!.

I've been around since 1964 and am proud of what I've experienced and tributed with. I think we fans are tributing to the band's future.

I'll certainly be there for them next time around! A great band and a great fanship are to be concluded is some way! It might be 2012 in London, an closure worth anything else in this worlds entertainment business.

May god bless the Stones for their effort and us for ours!
Without them there wouldn't be rock and roll!

Been Stoned since 1964 and still am!

Too many to count since 1975, but most of the big ones except ZZ Top.

Had a chance to see Elvis and Stevie Ray Vaughn (not together!) and (regrettably and obviously) hate that I missed those chances.
