Under the Boardwalk by Stones in charity release
Posted by: Addicted ()
Date: May 26, 2009 10:37

THE ROLLING STONES, AMY WINEHOUSE, FALL OUT BOY and THE KILLERS have teamed up to record a new covers album to raise money for charity.
A host of the world's biggest artists perform duets with Cuban band Rhythms Del Mundo on the album, called Classics - the proceeds of which will fund climate change projects and natural disaster relief around the world.
The Killers sing The Eagles' Hotel California; The Rolling Stones take on The Drifters' Under the Boardwalk; Winehouse performs
Sam Cooke's Cupid; and Fall Out Boy and John Mayer team up to cover Michael Jackson's Beat It on the disc, which goes on sale in July (09).
The project was inspired by the tsunami which struck the Indian Ocean in 2005, and follows a previous Rhythms Del Mundo album which featured a collaboration with Coldplay and helped 175 charitable projects around the globe.

Just found this - and am mighty proud of the Stones. They care, and they look to the future and care about the environment.
And it also gets'em into a studio... Yey!

i don´t know if they care, maybe they care like billions in this world.....
but maybe they need a new topic for the next tour, and a new recording

They care!
They were the first artists ever to buy carbon quotas to get a carbon neutral tour. Other artists have taken after them, like Travis and Chris Martin and his gang. Keith's even talked about this in interviews, the global warming and the increasing ocean level. So yes, our boys are concerned and aware and they've contributed with millions of dollars to various environmental causes.
I love their awareness - the fact that men in their 60s really care - it's impressive. I don't know many other men in their 60s who have a clue about what's going on with our precious planet.

Did not the Stones plant a few trees in some of the cities they played in during the "Bang" tour? And would this not make them official "tree huggers?" tongue sticking out smiley

Yeah, let´s not hope that some future thunder storm wipes out one or two of the Stones small cottages.

Of course 'our boys' (Blech!) 'care' about the planet. They own most of it by now.

This whole planting trees thing is bullshit. The trees already exist and they would get planted somewhere regardless.

Is this a new recording, or just the vocal track from their original recording with the cuban band overdubbed onto it??

thats damn right!
to play a big world tour like the stones with that hugh consumption of energy and in return the plant of a few trees is like to gouge somebody's eyes out and spend 10 pound to the aid organisation of blind people.

Dont do that charity @#$%&, thats not the job of the stones, the job of the stones is rock´n´roll

Global warming is a crock. And, they just reported that the water levels are NOT rising.

That said, anything good for the environment is a good thing.

They could show they 'care' more and save a few trees as well by asking us to use less banknotes for the next tour..

The climate has been changing ever since the world began. To think that man can control climatic warming or cooling trends is absurd. There is actually more evidence for global cooling than warming. There is actually more growth of arctic ice areas than loss. Please don't drink the leftist cool-aid. It's all a scam to tax the successful countries and subsidize world-wide Socialism. I'll fight it with my last breath.

oh my god. guys with that opinion do exist actually, not only in strange documentaries. unbelievable grinning smiley

"tax the successful countries"
by successful countries you mean us Westerners, who have managed to almost destroy the planet in about 150 years? With what results? Obese asses, big cars, and a global economical meltdown. Nice...

"I'll fight it with my last breath."
Which will happen soon if you live in the US or Australia...

Hey Coldplay, you do not need to charter a 727 to fly yourselves and your "people" for 50 minute plane rides.

They are one of the causes of climate change (and many other bands)

soon, though, a mammoth sheet of ice will come to swoop up and duane and all his buds in houston and then there won't be any more of this opinion. sad, really.
