According this thread most iorrians dislike U2, Bono, the clawn,...Why??? I'm not sure if there's an open war for iorrians between Stones and other bands, specially U2. In my opinion the thing isn't U2 but the Stones. Some bands are on the road with big and sold out shows, and on the other hand our loving Stones.....at home. Being a Stones fan I dislike to see Mick, Keith, resting but my question is: since when?
Being also a r'n'r fan I try to be updated of everything related to music and I follow as much as possible everything near Barcelona, my home town. In the last 12 months, ACDC (twice), U2 (also twice), Wilco, Metallica, Jackson Browne, Paul Weller, Leonard Cohen, John Fogerty, The killers, Kings of leon, Lou Reed, Jeff Beck, John Lee Turner,... visit and play. I wish to could include the Stones in this list but anyway, long live to rock and roll !!!

I like u2 alot and iam going to the GIANTS STADIUM SHOWS, and also you know as we speak mick and the powers that be are working on a stage to top this u2 stage, and they probably will

You are very lucky to see all those great artists and lucky to see for the first time in Europe and Opening Tour in Barcelona!! First time the Irish guys, open a world tour in Europe, and this time in the beautiful city of Barcelona!!!
Stones are the best in my life as Jordi says since I was out of my mother I CAN SAY, but as Xavier says, I´d love sometime is Stones play 4 or 6 songs at the same time.
Bono a clown? come one!! what a great show, we saw this week, what a sound and show, incredible!!! We are not talking about who is better or not, we are talking about r&r and feelings and taste something great went to show is gone.
Stones, U2, Springsteen and ACDC are different and we are lucky they are still alive, so come one!! Vamoosssss!!! enjoy their music as much as we can!!!!

I think Barcelona is turning into a world center. Everyone wants to play there now. Audiences know how to rock in Barcelona.
The video is good quality. But once again I am struck by the overall spectacle. If you think about it for a minute - what is going on in there? You got this HUGE truss of lighting and video screens. A circular stage with steps and bridges. So 100,000 people get together and are celebrating...what? Not really those 4 dudes. Everyone is singing along; drowning out the band - so it is not about "listening" to the songs. You are not watching a band anymore because they are scattered; using visual clues, and headmikes, monitors to communicate with each other.
Like Jagger does on Stones warhorses - here on "Beautiful Day" it is barely a semblance of the song. Just the idea of that song to trigger the reaction. For everybody to jump and feel joy.
It's a giant feel-good apparatus.

Maybe what I'm trying to say is that the idea of what rock'n roll is, has changed.
Bono himself has talked about this phenomenon called "stadium rock". It's a new thing; a new medium. I think he is right. The mega bands have taken it to a new level. And they are also in competition; (they all have egos ) so with each new big-name tour someone raises the bar.
When I look at your shots I am blown away. This is huge. It's mind boggling. Like it hits all your senses full force. The only thing missing now is that some stage designer finds a way to have us all have multiple orgasms with the pay-off powerchord.

Like a famous TV star in Spain´d say, "now you know the news, NOW I´ll tell you the thruth...Ten, nine, eight, seven, six, five, four, three, two, one, liftoff, this is Ground Control to Major Tom...!!!, Space Oddity by Bowie or Rocket Man by Elton John, were sounding before and after the show last Tuesday at the splendid Camp Nou , full with more than 110.000 believers.The Claw, the spaceship of the Irish ones, landed in Barcelona. A few years ago Bono and Co, asked themselves if it could be possible to do a concert with the stage completely round, like this was gestated the claw, inspired by Gaudí and the Sagrada Familia of Barcelona, four legs pistachyo coloura and orange, which gets the proximity the band and audience in 360º degrees. Besides that in the interior there´s a giant LED screen rising and decending, under the giant monster, the stage is round the only thing it moves is Larry Mullen Jr place.
The volume was deafening and overwhelming, music buried in skin pores, it sounded so loud , compact and clean even beers desintegrated in dust atoms
With these two premises, stage and sound, U2 want to break and they do it, the architecture, the technology, techno circus, not forgeting the solidary message and spite of their eagerness of knock out everything they want to, they are almost the king business, with the permission of Stones, Springsteen and AC/DC.
Comin in the impress Camp Nou, believers all over the world were there, that was like revive Alien or those space ship of Spielberg with that stage. There were around 8 pm, North Irish Snow Patrol wamed up the stadiu, they really did their job. Around ten pm, the hot weather was unbearable, the lights were down, again sounds of Bowie, it sounds the intro, new song of their songs of ascent, arabic sound, Bono- Eno of course!Ten, nine, eight, seven, six, five, four, three, two, one!,the space ship landed, first astronaut is here, Larry Mullen power drums, later the rest one are here, Breathe sounds, Bono wearing black clothes say hello to the parishioners, the sound arrives perfectly, the whole stadium on feet, Bono got carried by Springsteen with the new song, they played 4 new songs in a road
Light, flashes all around, amazing merchadotenia, Bono constantly comments, thanks to me our dream come true!! Then Beautiful day, a classic one, Bono like a inmigrant boxer starts to knock out us. The Edge played like used to, original style and innovated, combining partial chords, drons, armonics and another way of textures spreaded but musically rich with great ritmic precition. Audience no stopping singing, jumping and dancing, See the world in green and blue, See Barcelona right in front of you, España is the emotion..."

Vetigo, I´ll go crazy if I dont go crazy tonight, Larry with the bongo, the stadium is a complete discoteque, then sounds the military drum tones of Sunday Bloody Sunday and Pride, Bono put a flag of Martin Luther King in front the stage.
MLK, and Desmond Tutu at the screen taling about AIDS and Africa and then Aung San Suu Kyi tribute with Walk on/You´ll never walk alone .
They leave the stage and come back with Where the streets have no name and one, Bono puts FC Barcelona shirt, and said is the only team in the world wears UNICEF propaganda.After that the rythm of the concert went down, they left the stage agaib Bono shows up this time witha Jacket with red laser lights, when he sings Ultaviolet lost his voice for a while, then with or without you and finally moment of surrender, which he said, Beautiful song, great gift of song from God, and it will better for us to sing.
Love, contradiction, always God, sex, poverty, authocreiticism, two worlds, Buenas noches Barcelona, Buenas noches España!! total climax.
The concert full of mesianic details which divide the world population in two parties, megalomaniac band, happy ones makes us to vibe more than eartmen, they confirm their unstoppable transformation from U2 in U-God

I agree with you. It is definately an impressive stage if that is your thing. But what ever happened to rock n roll being about the music? That is what it is about to me anyway. I am there to here the music only.I guess for some bands the stage is as important as the music. Shouldn"t be but it is.

The Stage is a perfect fit for Bono's ego, but the music they make is not deserving of such a big stage, and what was bad music to begin with suffers even more in this
setting, and of course they had to add the little sermon/ photo bits, no, it ain't rock'n'roll, and I am nonetheless glad you had a nice time there.

As far as "stadium rock" goes, I believe that The Stones invented it. Why would any of you criticize the presentation of this new U2 Tour? It is fine if you don't care for their music, but please...this is a stage that could easily be on tour with "OUR" band.

I, for one, wish this WAS a Stones' stage! Can you imagine the Superbowl Tongue stage underneath "the Claw"? I can. It would absolutely rule!

The actual stage they are standing on seems a bit lower than a normal stage. Is it difficult for people on the field to see?

The "stage" looks like a giant TV set that's blairing bad U2 karaoke music, political news from Birmania, and the death of Jackson.

I hope the Stones won't try to out-do this on their next tour...
