For some unexplainable reason, I love this particular song:

Nicos, it's from 1981. For the record, I also like the song "Fernando". The lyrics of these two songs are very dark, and belie the melodies they are framed with.

I know bassplayer.. was just joking because it's started a bit psychedelic, I have to admid that back then Abba was in my car stereo.
But with some exceptions they sound a bit dated

Their movie, ABBA THE MOVIE, is genuinely entertaining and original...considering that EVERYONE tries to emulate A HARD DAYS NIGHT, the story line IS an original "wrap around", for the concert sequences. There is NO denying their success, entertainment skills, and charisma.

It's worth a viewing.

My favorite song, is the KLF treatment of DANCING QUEEN.

That song is fantastic and yes, it's psychedelic. Love the whole album actually.

Yes, they are. Everytime I listen their genious pop melodies I less I appreciate the Beatles sing-along-tunes as some kind of melodical wonders any rock and roll fan should appreciate. I always sense the Lennon-McCartney duo being more related to Ulvaes- Andersson tradition than to, say, the tradition Jagger-Richards are associated with.

No reason to feel guilty about liking an Abba song or loads of Abba songs. Great songs superbly executed. They have earned their place in history.

Always hated ABBA, clean white pop.

I loved this when I was 9:

Used to hate them when they were around. Now I have their complete works on the iPod.

"SOS" and "Waterloo" are pop masterpieces.

I listened to some best of recently and after about 3 songs I turned it off. It's awful. I'm amazed that ABBA was and still is so huge. They are more like an adult version of Roxette - Roxette wanted to be ABBA so bad. At least, that's what I got out of it.

So where's the genius?

If Mick or Keith had written this it'd be up there with You Can't Always Get What You Want or Beast Of Burden...

I must have left my house at eight
because I always do
my train, I’m certain
left the station just when it was due
I must have read the morning paper
going into town
and having gotten through the editorial
no doubt I must have frowned
I must have made my desk
around a quarter after nine
with letters to be read
and heaps of papers waiting to be signed
I must have gone to lunch
at half past twelve or so
the usual place, the usual bunch
and still on top of this
I’m pretty sure it must have rained
the day before you came

I must have lit my seventh
cigarette at half past two
and at the time I never
even noticed I was blue
I must have kept on dragging
through the business of the day
without really knowing anything
I hid a part of me away
at five I must have left
there’s no exception to the rule
a matter of routine
I’ve done it ever since I finished school
the train back home again
undoubtedly I must have
read the evening paper then
oh yes, I’m sure my life was
well within its usual frame
the day before you came

I must have opened my front door
at eight o’clock or so
and stopped along the way
to buy some Chinese food to go
I’m sure I had my dinner
watching something on TV
there’s not, I think, a single
episode of Dallas that I didn’t see
I must have gone to bed
around a quarter after ten
I need a lot of sleep and so
I like to be in bed by then
I must have read a while
the latest one by Marilyn French
or something in that style
it’s funny, but I had no sense
of living without aim
the day before you came

And turning out the light
I must have yawned and
cuddled up for yet another night
and rattling on the roof
I must have heard the sound of rain
the day before you came

TT: Nuthin "clean" about Swedes since we're all kinda Mestizos mixed
up bastards with Samis etc. Also lurved Boney M back then,
here no one was allowed to lurv ABBA since they were commercial
& greedy & I dont know what.

Honey Honey is melancholy school dances.

But me, I like King Song Song, Hole In Yer Soul & Eagle.
This Mamma Mia movie made me rediscover more songs.

The big problem, for me anyway, was that they looked so ridiculous. I could never take them seriously, still can´t. I admit that they did some decent songs, but they´re just too much of a light pop band for my taste.

Where did you dream this up? It´s not true, and very misleading, since non-swedes/scandinavians actually might believe what you say. We´re not half-samis, wich the use of the word mestizo suggests.

Benny is the genius here , so go look for his albums with Orsa Spelmän! There are some really good stuff on them.
