from my family, I asked them not to give me anything due to money issues brought on in part by excessive spending on ABB tour. Still, I got this:

Stones "collectors" pint glass set - tongue in varios colors (4 total)

short sleeved western (cowboy) button down shirt - wide enuf for my gut, soft, and lots of polyester so no need to iron

should note that i told them i would need to be buying a pair of regular shoes and a pair of sneakers/tennis shoes/what i still generically call "Keds" from my youth in the 60s when they were the rage

I said I would buy one thing for myself: one Stones disk -- got Ya Yas SACD hybrid for 7.99 on eBay, disk in perfect condition

ZZ TOP "Deguello" on vinyl

the Bob Dylan movie "I'm not there" on DVD

Cheesy KISS documentary DVD

Wireless headphones from my wife. I told her I can now listen to my records while I'm washing the dishes!

Also "Stone me. The wit and wisdom of Keith Richards". A stocking-filler type book of quotes. Good fun.

COLOGNE - Armani and Chanel (I don't know the specific names)

DVD - "Burn After Reading" so far doesn't work for me, very far from genius stuff like THE BIG LEBOWSKI....

"Blood Diamond" - what a great effing movie. See this one if you haven't.....

My Beloved Photography Books. Got a lot but favs so far are -

MATTHEW ROLSTON - "beautyLIGHT" (since Herb Ritts passed on much too early - 50 - a few years back we now have Matthew Rolston taking over as #1 - he's good but not as good as Ritts - but he's still way up there)

MARK SELIGER - "In My Stairwell" - even has Mick and Keith in it. Seliger is Rolling Stone Magazine's Main Photographer. A substancial book, super big and heavy....

HELMUT NEWTON - "Work" - Can't go wrong with the late Mr. Newton, One of our modern day treasures even though I still can't figure out all of his kinks - to each there own, half of his work is genius... that's a lot more than most with the pure sh*t that's out there today....

FASHION PHOTOGRAPHY - Bruce Smith. Most of these "how to's" are crap, this one is not.... always trying to learn some new things and this one provides some good, fresh info, a good buy, a good gift for those into Fashion Photography.....

A case of "BAD VIBES" been hearing on the general media (cable TV) how HORRIBLE 2009 is gonna be with this financial mess - better buy a ship load of dry Pasta and bottled sauce to make it through.....can always boil water with some tree branches and a big pan... I THINK WE ARE IN TROUBLE BIG TIME.....

Shine A Light - Disappointed in the extras and I thought Marty would have done a better job overall.

It was nicely shot though but it is not in the league of The Last Waltz

I agree with you, it's much better indeed!
And men... stop bitching please! Just put it on and chill out, complaining like that shouldn't be included. It's just not necessary tongue sticking out smiley

"A Bigger Bang" ain't "Sticky Fingers", so what? Are we all gonna cry? I prefer just to enjoy what I have, therefore I love ABB. ;-P

Not OT at all. Mr Stargroves bought me a subscription to IORR for Christmas. He wanted something "real" to put under the tree so he made me a collage card - I'm impressed>grinning smiley<.

Other presents weren't music-related and not of interest to you allsmileys with beer

Amused, I never said it was HORRIBLE, just saying it could have been better - I still watch it, still like it.... GIMME SHELTER could have been better, it's missing the highlight of the 69 tour - MIDNIGHT RAMBLER live... relax my friend, it's JUST the internet..... smiling smiley

I got up Christmas morning and it was good to see anyone as Keith say's. My entire family agreed this year that because of the economy it might be wise to consider not exchanging gifts. Best Christmas that I've ever had actually. We did have the usual get togethers as usual and everyone seemed to actually be relieved that they didn't have to pick through sweaters at Macy's that everyone ends up returning for something else anyway. We enjoyed the time together and that was more than enough. We all agreed that the commercialism of Christmas has gotten out of hand.

SAL DVD, didn't get a chance to see it in the cinema, my son bought it for me.
I must say that it's better than I expected, having listened to the cd, and not being impressed.

Besides the best gift of being with family and friends, I received a compilation containing every song that's been on the Billboard Top 100 from 1955 to 1989, more than 6000 tunes! Interesting to see how many times some artists made the list and how few some others appeared on it.
