In Warsaw. It was very powerful show. I didn't know that they sound so strong live. They played two encores and standing ovation lasted for a couple of minutes before they finally left the stage.

The Greatest Show in 2008 was for me: JOURNEY live in Bamberg. So much energy and enthusiam like Arnel Pineda (the new leadsinger) has on stage, that I've not seen in years!

Great year for shows:

Incredible Performances:
1. REM (Toronto): played with the fire and energy of a new band
2. The Alarm (NYC): Mike Peters and this version of the band is better than the original.
3. Okkervil River (if you do not know them, check them out)
4. David Byrne (University of Buffalo): weirdly wonderful and fun

Disappointment: Tom Petty with Steve Winwood. Two great writers and performers. Winwood opened and the sound was horrid, but he was a pro and gave us a treat. Petty followed with a set completely lacking in passion. He sounded just like his records, and played a long time, but there was not 'life' in the performance. He even had the chance to make a comment, or do something differently, when a lightnibg storm knocked out power for a few moments...but just continued playing like nothing happened. Should have saved cash and just listened to a greatest hits CD. zzzzzzz

The Who at the Indigo - first two nights
Bruce Springsteen at the Emirates Stadium (both nights) - although the first edged it
Nick Cave - Hammersmith Night 2 (May) and the first Troxy gig

The Who at the Indigo - all three nights. Monday was my favourite (Slip Kid), but Wednesday was better overall.
Springsteen at the Emirates was good, too.

Other than local clubs and coffehouses, my only show this year was Winwood and Clapton at MSG. Was a great show.

Here are the best shows i saw in 2008:

1. Pearl Jam at Madison Square Garden, nights 1 & 2, packed to the rafters, they played for 3 hours each night, different set lists, and well, not to be over dramatic, but it was epic!

2. Pearl Jam in Tampa, St. Petes Times Forum, 2nd row!

3. Eddie Vedder solo in Boston, Opera House, just a wonderful evening of music and friends.

4. The Who, Boston Garden

5. Pearl Jam in Hartford, Dodge Center Amipitheater, one of the most rocking shows I've seen the band perform since 1996.

Also saw PJ in Mansfield both nights, and Eddie Vedder solo in Montreal, wonderful weekend with a girl i love . . . didn't have time for anyone else, when Pj tours, which is pretty much every year, i see multiple shows, its like the old grateful dead!!! now i fly instead of drive!!!
