What A Shame Versions
Date: December 28, 2008 19:10

Has anyone noticed that there are two different versions of "What a Shame" on the albums? Since the micro knowledge of the Decca/London maze is not my forte, I am not sure which version is where. But I notice that not only are there two different takes around; there is also a different mastering, or mix of the same version. I hear it especially in that one overdriven note in the solo. Where the guitarrist seems to turn up on an early note.

I'm aware of the others on your list, but not "What a Shame." You might also wish to add "The Under-Assistant West Coast Promo Man" as well.

I like all of the stuff that surfaced in the mid-eighties that had the stereo versions. Down the Road Apiece is fantastic. I swith between the two though I love the old mono mixes as well.
