You have to wonder how Bill would be feeling about a 45 year old man having sex with one of his daughters when they were 14. Not too cool with it I suspect.

Wyman has done well for himself hasn't he? A wealthy man now happily married (we presume) with three daughters and living his life as he wishes. And now in his mid-seventies one has to admire his seemingly youthful outlook on life, still hungry to play guitar and perform. Retaining a youthful outlook and growing old stylishly seems to be a hard trick to pull off for many of our ageing ro

From what I hear they have come to the end of the road creatively. The two new songs and A Bigger Bang were worthy but devoid of any kind of artistic innovation. IMO the best song from this late era was 'I Don't Wanna Go Home' - strangely treated as a throwaway and yet it's a great little pop song with hooks that rattle about the grey matter. There still seems to be enough

Quotebye bye johnny QuoteEdith Grove Is Hurricane a Keith tune or a Stones tune? The CD sleeve notes "Written by Keith Richards and Mick Jagger" Yes that's a strange one. Mick having any input seems unlikely though possible! Or is there some kind of continuing arrangement whereby a song written by either party is labeled as a 'Jagger/Richard' composition? This would f

QuoteEdith Grove Is Hurricane a Keith tune or a Stones tune ? I'm alphabetizing my CD collection and don't know if "Richards" or "Rolling" comes first. No chicken & egg jokes, please. Well he did release it on the vintage winos compilation so i guess that would categorize it as a solo recording

From the 'Black and Blue' Sessions Jan/Feb 1975 or was it earlier? Here is my mix of the Rotterdam Tapes recording and The "jamming With Jeff Beck" track. Forever to gather dust in the Stones archives one wonders!! And a recording of the by now not-so-rare 'It's Funny' from the Crossfire Hurricane soundtrack. Mick Jagger and Piano June or Jul

A track that seems to get better with age. Surprising they didn't give it a proper release in the late 60s. Maybe Jagger felt he hadn't quite finished the lyrics or something.

Or more likely from his wonderful recordings for Dick Spottswood from earlier in the same year --- Washington 13-16 Feb 1964 Found on Rev Robert Wilkins - Memphis Gospel Singer - OJL-8052 Here is the Newport recording - the top one is the Gospel Singer.

The great original recording of 'Prodigal Son'by Rev Robert Wilkins. The tale of the prodigal son was apparently a popular theme in black folk/blues music from the early days. The Rolling Stones (or Keith Richards specifically) probably drew his/their inspiration from Wilkin's Nine-plus minute performance at the Newport Folk and Blues festival in 1962.

From the originals versions site The Doors cover 1970 The Doors credit John Lee Hooker who once earned a living in the same Detroit auto parts assembly line as Barrett Strong (and the whole Motown direction board). Maybe Barrett was influenced by his colleague. On the other hand, the Doors also credit Crawling King Snake to John Lee Hooker (see there). More blogs with info

Here's an article from a Beatles blog. The writing of the song has a good degree of controversy, which requires a bit of speculation. The appearance of a very similar blues song by John Lee Hooker, entitled “I Need Some Money,” creates the problem. His song, recorded on February 9th, 1960 and released that June, is almost identical in lyrics and melody line. Hooker claims songwriti

Quotetomcasagranda John Lee Hooker adapted it as "I Need Some Money". I believe John Lee Hooker began performing "i need some money" before Gordy came up with his recording. In fact Hooker instigated a court case against Gordy for plagarism. Hooker lost the case.

Quotememphiscats I had this boyfriend who was convinced that the Stones sold Brian's soul to the devil in return for fame & fortune. At least that's a tad more interesting than "death by misadventure." I think you've got the beginnings of film script here.

Probably Frank did it. If we believe the supposed death-bed confession. That is only word of mouth so what do you believe? I suppose we'll never know for sure and maybe Brian's demise was only a matter of time anyway.

Also does anybody know more about the vol. 9 Clapton/Jagger sessions and Bowie/Jagger sessions. Again never have seen these on any other cd. An old thread from last year. Does anyone have any updated info on these discs? Are they real or a fake Westwood On

QuoteMidnight Toker Gimme a new double CD of new/unreleased material which is easily doable and can another greatest hits release. Jagger has gone to the greatest hits well one too many times. If he wanted to ,he could have blown us away. I think Mick realizes he can make more money repackaging the hits rather than releasing a new CD. Releasing yet another grrreatest hits set is just confirming

Really I don't know why there's so much angst about the ticket prices. If people want to pay oodles of cash to see them then what the hell thats up to them. I expect they'll do some more realistically priced shows later on (or maybe not). The band may even be a better functioning unit then. It's good that they plan at least one of the shows to be a pay-per-view. No doubt the

Using this little freeware spectrum analyzer. I checked a 128kbps file before expanding it into an editor (as a wav) then re-encoded it back to a 128kbps file. In fact it did seem to incur a little loss in the process. If I saved it as a 192 or higher then no loss occured. So the point of this would be to always save at a higher bitrate than the original to minimize loss. And make sure t

I'm sure many of us occasionally use the simple method of Real-time recording from a stream site such as Lastfm, myspace and so on. This usually results in a wav file which can then be saved. Presuming the bitrate of the stream is 128kbps (for example). If we then re-save our wav file as a 128kbps mp3 will this degrade the quality of the recording further or will its original integrity s
