Quotetomcasagranda I can think of some albums I like that have been maligned unjustly: 1) Bridges to Babylon - my 3rd favourite Stones album 2) Henry The Human Fly - Richard Thompson 3) Ragged Old Flag (album) - Johnny Cash 4) Metallica - Reload 5) Mighty like A Rose - Elvis Costello 6) Pink Cadillac - John Prine 7) Borderlord - Kris Kristofferson 8) Old Ways - Neil Young 9) Hard Nose

Quotematxil Lou Reed - Berlin (As far as I am concerned, his best album) A worthy addition to the list, for sure. I prefer 1980s Lou myself, but do enjoy Berlin.

QuoteRisingStone Bob Dylan - At Budokan Largely disparaged, dismissed or ignored by critics and Dylan enthusiasts alike over the years as his “Vegas” album. I feel there is rich musicality in the kaleidoscopic arrangement adopted for reinventing the material when it comes to the performances recorded and heard on this album. FYI see the customer reviews on amazon.co.uk — most of the voices are s

Apologies if there is a thread for this already, but I was thinking the other day how for some of the artists I really like, there are LPs which don't rank among their best and were panned by critics that I really enjoy listening to. In many cases I listen to these records more than the ones that were the critics' darlings. Here are the three LPs that I was thinking of: Rolling S

Totally. Was looking forward to his planned "Wildflowers" tour. And had just seen him in July in Canadaigua, NY. I get sad everytime I listen to "Buried Treasure", but still listen to the old broadcasts because they are all so great. I was hopeful he'd be DJing for us into his 80s.

Quotegeorgemcdonnell314 I know there are a few David Gilmour fans on here. See the link: Time flies when you are old. To me it seems like Rattle that Lock is a relatively new release. Five years used to seem like a long time.

Quoteretired_dog Quoteslewan QuoteBjorn I really like Infidels too. I always say: Infidels is the best album Dylan never released. What's acctually on the released version of Infidels is a strange mix of rather weak songs and poor versions of great songs and bad mixed songs. We need a re-release, somehing like 'Infidels reconsctructed' Like this one? Infidels original mix

QuoteMadMax QuoteMrEcho There are faint rumors that "Bootleg Series Vol. 16" will come out in the fall, focusing on the "Infidels Sessions", which include Mick Taylor on guitar, of course. P.S.: According to Michael Chaiken (Bob Dylan Archive in Tulsa), they have only recently managed to transfer the "Infidels" sessions. "Infidels" was one of the first

Exile on Main Street. My initial exposure to the Stones way back when came from Hot Rocks and Rewind. A friend of mine urged me to dig deeper. When I picked up Exile I only knew two tracks well, Tumbling Dice and Happy, and I liked them both. I thought to myself, what's the big deal here? I never heard of most of these songs? Over a period of time I slowly but surely fell for each

What is the point of being critical? Mick could have done it by himself, the others were obviously happy to be on board. Charlie's air-drumming was pretty great, I thought. It was nice just to see them.

Truthfully if it was by another artist, say Aerosmith or the Doobie Bros., I would not like it. However I enjoy the song mostly from the standpoint of nostalgia. Steel Wheels was the first Stones tour I was old enough to attend and there was so much anticipation among my friends and I that in the month leading up to the tour we played the cassette recording of the song someone made off the r

QuoteChris Fountain He also performed some Live Aid Concerts in Indiana- Very Good - A Raw sound with just basic instrumental structure, I wonder if he and JC Mellencamp ever met up? It is not important but was just curious. In Anthony DeCurtis' bio of Lou there was a section devoted to the Farm Aid appearances and commentary regarding the interaction between Lou and JCM.

I'm a big fan of the Velvet Underground and Lou Reed in particular. When it comes to solo Lou, my preference is his 80s & 90s output. The Blue Mask Legendary Hearts New Sensations The following LP, Mistrial was a bit of a misstep. Although it does contain a couple solid tracks. He more than redeemed himself with New York. Bob is great. One third of my holy-trinity of music - Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Rolling Stones. (David Bowie with an honorable mention) Quite an epic song. Sounds like the late-era Leonard Cohen releases. Spoken word over minimal accompaniment so the listener can zero in on the lyrics. I guess this is appropriate for 80-ish legends of their craft. Roll on Bob.

Keith enjoyed, or at the very least remembered, the Running on Empty LP according to what he wrote in Life. The Daryl Hannah accusation was bunk. His first wife had mental health issues and an unhealthy addiction to pills. According to the two Bruces (Springsteen & Cockburn) JB is one of the nicer guys and most generous souls in the music business. I like a lot of his music and havi

The first music I owned in the early 80s was on vinyl and cassette. I continued to buy cassettes religiously until around 1990. Then I transitioned to CDs and replaced all my cassettes with the CD versions. Then I was enticed into buying reissues and deluxe editions. Later I started buying vinyl again. I have purchased records like Exile, SF and SG multiple times in various formats over the
