Ronnie is using in-ear monitoring for the first time, I think. Looks like the standard earbuds that come with the systems! Must be to accommodate lower stage noise levels for Rod.

It's a shame Keith simplifies the intro to Angie live. It's so beautiful on the album version. Live it just sounds like he wants to get the intro out of the way.

I think with writing the difficult thing is always gonna be balancing the right amount of 'head' and the right amount of 'heart'. And that's hard to manage. Glad to see Jagger finally aware of his own remarkable achievements!

Very interesting! This is a different Jagger than "I don't remember which album this was on"-guy. Great how much he remembers. Lovely to read.

Yeah, sounds like I Could Have Stood You Up is Victor Hugo reversed, thematically. In VH Keith is being stood up by someone. Stu on keys, right? It's too wild to be Leavell.

For christ sakes, shall we just wait before they release/do anything before the classic judgement of "they don't know their own legacy, we know what they should do"?

Keep it Cool is so.... cool. No, it would never be a single or a much talked about track, but it's a very nice, original idea, though I can imagine it looks like a lot of work trying to write proper lyrics for it.

Neighbor is a testament to how much difference mixing makes and how great an editor/engineer/producer Chris Kimsey is.

I love that the bass comes in on the second verse. Come to think of it: are there any more Stones songs where the bass comes in later? Only other one I can come up with is HTW for now.

Mac was such a lovely man. Had the pleasure of meeting him twice. By studying his playing I learnt how to play keys. Now I make a living playing music. Fortunately I had the chance to pay him back -literally- when I went to see him play in Austin. Whenever I would send him an email he would always take the time to reply to my geeky questions. Such a sweet guy. When I met him in Amsterdam once

There will be a Stones release on Universal in Q1 2015, I'm hearing. Let's hope it's the SF reissue.

It's 100% Mac who's singing in the Shattered video. I doubt very much they'd go through the trouble of having Mac do overdubs, even at the time. It's just a different (better!) mix.

I think the harmonica on the studio works well because of the reverb on it. It's just two notes, played for effect. Would be hard to replicate it live. They don't use a lot of effects on Jagger live anyway.

Loved the show. Some songs were better than others, but overall it was great being there. Lovely venue and the band had lots of fun. I was very impressed with the sound. Their FOH guy's got HUGE BALLS. Whenever there's a solo he turns the instrument up LOUD. Very ballsy and direct sound. Love the way he is using regular cheap microphones and no compression. Works really well for the

Gear questions: - Have you ever seen Charlie's old Ludwig and Gretch drumkits and are they in good condition? - If you see a great guitar for Keith, can you just pick it up and buy it, or do you check with Keith first? - Why does Chuck bring a Leslie simulator instead of a real one, is that to keep his onstage volume down? - Have they ever considered bringing a real piano on tour, or i

Received it today. WOW! Let's just appreciate this book for what it does right. The pictures are great and there's a lot of in-depth info. Plus we get to learn which stuff is still in posession etc. Don't mind the minor mistakes. I love it. So happy I bought it.

You should never judge the tv mix too harshly. The sound goes through all kinds of converters and compressors at the station to make it suitable for all kinds of devices. You can sound great on stage and on the field and crap on tv. And every tv does different things to the sound it gets fed. The mix I heard on my tv had a lot of Ronnie, who played real well I thought. It had not so much Keit
