Don't know who does their FOH sound for them these days, but it works very well in this case that the approach is unsubtle. Solo? Faders up to 11! Forum: Tell Me
F U C K !
They sound exciting!
Taylor sounds hot and he fires up the whole band. It looks like genuine surprise on everybody's part. "Hey, we can still make MUSIC instead of just performing"
Heartwarming to see and hear the audience is actually very interested in these songs and in the solos. Hope they take the time to keep playing these so they will get even better.

I really like that they're playing again, they look happy to be doing what they're doing, but WTF, who edits these videos for them?
Does the editor love bum notes? This is not doing them any favors. What the hell happened to quality control? Is this just somebody's kid doing videos? And the dry soundboard mix really does suck.
Come on. Make sure these videos are a commerc Forum: Tell Me
While browsing through cds in a record store in Indonesia, I stumbled upon this gem. It's a recording from 1976 by Indonesian band Superkid. Great fun.
They also do HTW, but I'll save that one for later. Forum: Tell Me
So what's up next?
Here's hoping they found the El Mocambo tapes.
It will probably be the shows we already have bootlegs of in reasonable quality, but I prefer to live in hope. Forum: Tell Me
Indeed very funny Chris K is credited as producer, since he isn't credited as producer on Some Girls (eniger/mixing). As far as I know he hasn't done any work for the deluxe.
About I Love You Too Much... could very well be I Need You, because of the Keith piano credit. There's no piano on Can't Help It, right? Here's hoping they renamed I Need You to I Love You Too Mu Forum: Tell Me
Based on reliable rumors I am guessing So Young will probably be a different mix. Let's hope for the old vocal instead of the '94 retake. But if Jagger wasn't happy with the old vocal in 1994, why would he be now?
I think they want to make this deluxe second disc feel like an album. With actual songs instead of jams / alternates from the actual album. So Young is from the right Forum: Tell Me
1. Sales digital and cd's, vinyl
- In Holland artists (the one the record company has a contract with, Stones are signed as a unit) usually get a fixed percentage of the PPD (price payed by dealer). 10% is normal here, and there's usually a curve for sales exceeding x or y. These are the royalties.
- Then there's a percentage for the writers of the material
- Then there Forum: Tell Me
I thought it was superb. I loved the mix. The rhythm section is INSANE.
They are on fire, they are focused, they actually listen to each other.
It's wild. It's a party band.
Keith is so totally ON in this show, he rules.
But the real stars of the show are Bill and Charlie.
Very nice to hear Stu high up in the mix for some songs.
Anyway: go and see it in a cinema and make Forum: Tell Me
The opening chord of Separately sounds exactly the same as the chord in James Taylor's 'Fire and Rain', that comes after the chorus (at the 1:00 mark).
Wonder if they nicked it from that? Forum: Tell Me
I wrote Bill an email about the unreleased instrumental. Here's what he had to say:
"I have a vague recollection of this track
It’s possible that it was recorded at Olympic Studios, London, around 1969-70
Before we went to France & did the Exile Sessions
Or more than likely afterwards in the 1972/73 period
Yes that’s me on bass,
That’s all I’ve got for you

Let It Loose Leslie'd backing vox sure were an inspiration.
Shame the YouTube version sounds like shit, but that's YouTube.
A good quality version is on iTunes and includes the intro.

I doubt it. Not one of the parts (intro, verse, chorus, outdo) sounds like a part that has been used later on. It's already, even without melody, too specific.
The more I listen to it, the more I like it. It's really delicate. Forum: Tell Me
BTW: The new instrumental has totally different chords then Tops. It really is new, though there are similarities to many of their ballads from the same period. Forum: Tell Me
I really wonder who made these choices in mixing it. It could have been Miller, could have been Jagger, but it also could have been Andy Johns who finally mixed it.
I agree the Taylor overdubs are just him trying out some stuff that is obviously not working, though there some parts that made the cut. Yeah the man was a great player, but just the fact that he took risks and tried out stuff pro Forum: Tell Me
Yeah, but Nicos, those were all available before in better quality I think.
Those six files are the real treasures that most of us weren't familiar with before today. Forum: Tell Me
That last one is Stuck Out All Alone, has been around for a long while.
I agree Shine A Light is the same, reverb soaked version that has been around for some time.
Though this one runs too fast and sounds bad. Well, they all run too fast. Forum: Tell Me
There are about three unverified songs left over at Zentgrafs site from 70/71:
Candlewick Bedspread (MJ/KR) -unverified
Hey Mama (MJ/KR) -unverified
Fragile (MJ/KR) -unverified
Here's hoping someone can shine a light on if it's one of those. That would sure make it easier to refer to this one. Forum: Tell Me
Sound quality on YouTube is notoriously bad. I think many of the tapes were converted in the wrong way too. Hopefully the uploader will reply.
It will take quite some time to establish which ones of the 200+ uploads are released and unreleased versions.
I assume Nicky had tapes / acetates from a lot of the of the songs he's worked on, but it might just have been tapes with his favori Forum: Tell Me
Yeah Gwen, there's an extra doubletracked vocal on that SFM and the piano and bass are a bit clearer. Sounds different after the instrumental exotic bit as well. Forum: Tell Me
I think John Shine, or someone related to him, could be the uploader. Some of his songs are on there. He has recorded a song with Nicky: Forum: Tell Me
He also has Have You Seen Your Mother on there, and more outrageously: You Never Give Me Your Money. I'm going to drop the uploader a mail. Forum: Tell Me
It's just very Stonesy, maybe they lacked a good melody?
I'm always wondering whether they had the melody for later reworked songs as Tops back when they started recording them, or if Jagger made them up in that Paris warehouse with Chris Kimsey.
But then again you can't just throw some nice chords together, can you. They must have had some melody that they thought went well Forum: Tell Me
