XM Radio has a great series called "Then Again...Live" where an old band goes in and performs an entire album live in the studio. Usually it's kind of a novelty thing with the likes of Alice Cooper or Cheap trick. The most notable exception is The Allman Brothers Band performing "Eat A Peach". They deliver a flawless reproduction with some new twists. Warren Haynes an

And even more good news.. Her "Live In Austin" DVD comes out Tuesday (May 17)! This is from 1998 and includes a heavy dose of her classic "Car Wheels On A Gravel Road" album. I agree about the abundance of material from her last album on Fillmore. I can think of so many songs I would have liked to hear this band take a crack at! Ther is almost nothing from "Car W

Anyone else heard this? Superb blues/country/rock (like we used to get from our guys!). This poor girl has lived it! Great band - similar to Crazy Horse (with a better guitarist - sorry Neil!) It starts out as a slow burn, with country/bluesey tales of despair and her "world gone wrong". By the time it gets to "Change The Locks" both band and singer lock into a nasty sna

>>He could have a little fun with it, too. Maybe have a young Keef lookalike as a second guitarist, but just standing off in the corner, not much stage presence, quietly and respectfully taking his cues from the master, Mick Taylor, while a young Mick Jagger clone blows a little harp and contributes the occasional vocal. << UUggh! Maybe he could just join a Stones tribute band a

>>It didn't work out because he wasted years wallowing in self-pity.<< Was he really wallowing in self pity for years? How do you know this? Were you with him? Did you know him then? Has he come out and said anywhere that he spent years wallowing in self pity? If not, this is pure speculation stated as fact. Maybe it's as simple as he no longer WANTED to "play

It's not exactly a soundboard. This is Drake's remix using the soundboard feed combined with the audience recording. It sounds great, however! Best version available so far! Hat's off to Drake! Ross

Drake, Are you referring to the original version of Layla? One of the most gut-wrenching blues-rock songs ever (IMO) Pure raw emotion - total despair ofer the unrequieted love of his best friend's wife! A searing riff melting into dreamlike piano hangover! The whole Layla album is white-boy blues at it's nastiest. My favorite Clapton, with Duane as a bonus kicking it into overdrive!

This is superb! It is amazing what a different mix does for this song. With a better vocal from Mick in the studio, this song should rock on the new album! Good work, Drake. I have a whole new perspective on this song now! Drake's mix is here Ross

When you watch the video on Rockpassion.com (thanks to the curator of that site!) you can see and hear Ronnie quite clearly. Even on the excellent audience Flac and MP3 files I hear him quite well! He appeared to be more alert and involved than on recent tours (with the notable exception of when he would wake up during CYHMK to do a fair at best job of trying to replicate MT's classic

You will need to subscribe to a newserver. I recommend Giganews (www.giganews.com). You can use Outlook or download a program called Agent (search for Forte Agent). There are literally hundreds of Newsgroups full of MP3's for the pickins! I highly recommend this! The alt.binaries.sounds.mp3.m newsgroup is like 90% Stones. The rest is very interesting to a Stones fan! Ross

1. The guitars. I heard TWO guitar players! Bouncing riffs off of each other like they were meant too! Particurlarly during Brown Sugar Keef and Ronnie were locked into a weave like I have rarely heard them do lately. Ronnie was actually participating...he took the solo...and it wasn't just adequate (which would have been above average for him over the last 3 tours) HE NAILED IT! The r

Lucinda Williams - Live at the Fillmore (Scortching country-rock! Album of the year so far IMO!) Grateful Dead - Movie Soundtrack Box (great background music) Bright Eyes - Wide Awake (Dylanesque country-folk from indie 20-something) Bruuuuce - Devils & Dust (Dylanesque country-folk from big-label 50-something) Ryan Adams - Cold Roses (decent, not great but a grower!) Blind Boys of Alaba

Face it, The Stones could go to the nearest bar to any show they are playing...grab the lead guitarist out of the band on stage...and that guitarist could likely contribute more musically to the Stones' show than Ronnie does. OG is right, just a bit repetitive! Ross

The Neville Brothers could be the greatest live bar band of all time! I used to see them regularly during the '80s and 90's at Rockefellers in Houston (where they traditionally blew the roof off the place!) and their yearly performances at New Orlean's Jazzfest. Glad to hear they are still at it. Stones Content---> I remember in 1981 Keith declared their "Fiyo on The B

Definitely near or at the top of the second tier. I liken it to the hangover after Exile. Keith was pretty much wasted which opened the door for the Micks to explore working together. Always an enjoyable listen! "I'll make bets that youre gonna get John Wayne before he dies"! Whatta line! Ross

What about the PPV broadcast from Miami on the Voodoo Lounge tour? With the whole world watching Keith starts the solo in SFTD on the wrong fret, so the whole solo is played in the wrong key! On the official video release of this show, the solo is magically fixed! But, if you look at a tape of the original PPV broadcast the horribly off-key solo is there! Great Keef moment! Ross
