Of course diversity alone does not a great album make! To your point, Bowiestones, to make a great with all of those various styles is even more difficult! The Stones managed that to perfection with Exile! Some Girls, as great as it is, consists for the most part of 3-chord (or in the case of Lies, Imigination and Whip, 2-chord) garage-style workouts. In fact, slow Whip down a bit and you ha

Ronnie's slide on RJ resembles MT's licks on All Down The Line...except lacking the fluidity, creativity and perfect timing that made MT so amazing. Like his attempts mimick MT with his CYHMK solos on the last tour, he just isn't quite in the same league. That being said, it is great to hear the separate rhythm/lead configuration vs. the weaving thing. Ronnie's "clunk

Exile is even MORE diverse, and it isn't composed in the same 3 chords as is most of Some Girls. Rock, blues, gospel, country, bluegrass, boogie, even calypso! It's all there, played better with more complex (and interesting) arrangements - graced by better musicians (Nicky Hopkins and Mick Taylor to name a couple). Some Girls is a great "garage" album (not that there&#

A lot depends on how these 3 individual tracks flow within the context of the album...that contains 16 studio tracks...13 of which NOBODY HAS HEARD YET! Ross

I love it! Reminds me of their GREAT outtake recording of "Catfish" (aka Two Train Blues) from the Trident sessions in 68. Swampy! Great vocals, slide, harp! Pure Delta! Are there better, complete versions of SOL and RJ out there yet? Ross

It does kind of have that "Steel Wheels" feel to it. At first I likened it to a cross between Mixed Emotions and All Down The Line (due to the slide parts). Upon further review it is definitely leans more to the former. Ronnie's slide work is ok...nowhere near the quality MT's on ADTL, but reminiscint none the less. I hope the whole theing wont be a "Stones-by-number

Totally Agree! IGMOATD and Now Look stand on their own as great albums! Full of steamy licks with a loose backroom jam kind of feel. Lots of friends drop by to join in the party. I always thought IGMATD was more accessible, but Now Look has the best jams...And so soulful! His later albums had moments, but these are lost classics! Two of the best Stones solo albums! Hmmm...I would clas

My main complaint is the LAME 4-note guitar solo. The song isn't too bad...but a killer guitar solo, even something like the one on Out Of Tears, could have rescued this song from it's sappiness! Ross

I think that is referring to the Saint Of Me single which had 2 versons of SOM with Anyway You Look At It and a live version of Gimme Shelter as "b-sides". Surely they wouldn't repeat the b-sides for the new single! The Redundancy of that would be redundant! Ross

I like the (tbc) artwork! It's rare that they would have such a clear picture of themselves on the cover! Come to think of it, the last time they did that on a studio album was Dirty Work! On second thought.... Ross

Thanks, Crossfire! Songs like New Faces and Sweethearts Together on VL harkened back to the Buttons/Aftermath/Flowers era (IMO). They remind me of stuff like Backstreet Girl, She Smiled Sweetly,Ruby Tuesday, etc. I really like VL for the most part. I made my own mix exchanging some of the tracks from the Voodoo Brew/Stew collections. I used the instrumental version of Suck On The Jugul

OK, so Voodoo Lounge or B2B has a lot of filler. There are those who say that they would have been a better albums with fewer tracks. Now... Which tracks would you remove? You will never get a consensus on that! In an earlier thread one fan referred to Might As Well Get Juiced as "unlistenable". Another quickly fired back that MAWGJ was his favorite track! Personally, Sweethea

Leave Keef's tracks off? No way! We know that one is a ballad, I just hope the other is a full blown "Little T&A" or "BTMMR"-style ROCKER! It's been a while! As for Mick doing something behind Keff's back, that could be a good payback for Keef swapping Mick's vocal on "You Got The Silver" for his so many years ago! Ross

Those are newsgroups. You need a news server (I use Giganews) and a news reader program (I recommend Forte Agent). There is a small monthly cost for giganews but it is WELL worth it if you are into downloading music! Ross

I can live with it if it is the only thing like that on the album! It could have been saved by a kick-ass solo. Instead we get perhaps the LAMEST Stones guitar solo EVER. Who played this? Any studio hack could have cranked this out. Out of Tears was pulled out of sappiness by it's solo! Who is responsible, Don Was? Did Keith hear this before it was released? Aside from that,

I would love a great 40 minute album...then would be the first to pay through the nose for a bootleg of ALL of the outtakes! I say give us as much as possible...we can sort through it and determine what we like! I do agree, though, that there can be overkill. Sticky Fingers is a PERFECT 45 minutes of pure rock/country/blues/jazz splendor! I don't see how adding any of the outtakes

Flip the Switch, Saint Of Me, and Out Of Control were all GREAT additions to the live set on the B2B tour. Similar to the Grateful Dead in the 70's, the albums they were making at the time were not very highly acclaimed, yet songs from albums like Wake Of The Flood and Blues for Allah became highlights of their live shows at that time, which were legendary! Songs like Scarlet Begonias, F

From a martketing standpoint, I guess you could say Paul's latest album at the time of these concerts was "Let It Be...Naked", which is promoted quite well at these shows. It was great to hear "Two Of Us" and "I've Got A Feeling" live! (In addition to the obligatory "Get Back" and "Let It Be"). The St. Petersburg set really rocks! P
