What's the consensus on GA floor? I had to buy several tickets, so it was really my only decent option, since I didn't want to see what may be my last Stones show from the nosebleeds. I like the idea of standing, and I'm tall anyway, but my 9 year old son is coming as well, so I'm thinking he might be relegated to staring at the giant video screens. My last show was in 201

Quote35love Well he couldn’t have been that great if he gave BV constant hassles. Seriously. Look what the cat dragged in. Dead vermin usually. StonesTod was one of my favorite posters. I think some of his humor may occasionally have been lost in translation. As I recall, he may have had a serious health issue around that same time. As for the song, it's one of those that just doesn

My baseless speculation on tour structure and new album release: Something I've noticed that seems different about this current crop of shows as compared to the pattern since about 2012, when they seem to have adopted something more in the direction of the Never-Ending Tour model (for lack of a better term; we need a name for this as applied to the RS), in which they have not had a themed

Quotefloodonthepage How sped up is it? I've read about this issue for years, but never really saw anything that explained how bad the problem is. I have the generically titled "Greatest Hits Live" DVD version, and prior to that I have seen the VHS edition. Neither of them stood out as being strange, but maybe it's like anything that's slightly off....you get used to it. I

- Bad Luck Hideaway (MJ/KR) - Bottom Of My Heart (MJ/KR) - Drive Me Too Hard (MJ/KR) - Fool's Paradise (MJ/KR) - Never There (MJ/KR) Man, those are some kick-ass titles. If they f- it all up and never complete the album I suppose we'll get to hear it eventually (should we live long enough). Too bad there is no incentive now to get it done in a timely fashion to promote the tour s

"Keith's Voodoo Lounge" on Stew is great. It just shows how much input into the creative process Keith had at that point. It may have been the last time they really functioned as a band on a start-to-finish process of making an album. The 1990s were a really creative time for the them, criminally overlooked by many here, but it really becomes evident if you listen to Brew/Stew/Resi

QuoteMisterDDDD Quotebabyblue Wonder if Buffalo will be added. Pretty sure the chances of any Zip Code city getting a show are slim to none. They played Dallas-FW as the sole Texas date on Zip Code. I'm liking my chances for Houston this time.

The Rolling Stones FAQ Remember this? Undercover was an e-mail list that predated the WWW, and it was my essential resource for information until I discovered IORR around 1997. The RS FAQ was put together by a few members there, and it was incredible, especially Part 2, which dealt with bootlegs. The last update from what I can tell was around 18 years ago. It would be great to have someth

Quotestrat72 Secondly, The Stones were poor....... It seemed like the sentiment around here at the time was that the sound was bad. I thought it was a great performance, really raw. I remember Mick saying something like, "we actually did it live, unlike everybody else, which may have been a mistake in retrospect". Apparently there was some internal debate about that beforehand, inc

Come on, Keith and Mick! Release the damn album already! I'm ok with 8 tracks Black and Blue II. Give some legitimacy to this thread. Someone posted a picture of flogging the dead horse a few years ago and they subsequently went on tour.

IORR live vs. studio is completely different. Of course the live arrangements evolve also. Sympathy live 1969 vs. 1989- (or 1989 vs. 2007 )

I remember the time it was played at MSG (shown on HBO) being pretty good. 2003? Now I got those @#$%& blues! One of the highlights of VL. The booming drums scared the hell out of me the first time I heard it.

It seems that is a pretty common assumption. Recently I heard a DJ on a local NPR affiliate introduce the Stones version (in that typical highbrow hushed learned tone) as a Townes cover. I wanted to scream into my radio.

Quotelem motlow listening to a senior citizen carrying on with “huh, yeah substantial damage baby”isn’t great rock and roll unless you’re just pretending. If you are content listening to Beggar's Banquet over and over, why advocate denying me new Stones music just because you don't like it. They can do what they want. Don't buy it. Your whole argument sounds just like the stereo

You Got Me Rocking. Needs no further explanation, right? Oh well. I guess you had to be there. I was 17 at the time. That was the first "new" song I heard from the band, back in the spring of 1994, and I was astounded to find out they were still alive and kicking. Of course I had a general familiarity with the Hot Rocks type of stuff, but it all took off from there for me that year.

One thing that is discouraging about the new record--if they are indeed working on it, they are not doing it very enthusiastically, making me wonder about how confident they are in the quality of the material. It makes it look like their hearts aren't into it, and if there were some killer tracks, you'd think they would be more eager to get it finished. Of course then you have the examp

QuoteKoen The why is it called a proshot? confused smiley Cause it wasn't filmed by some random dude in the audience with his Sony Handycam. The Rolling Stones paid people to shoot it. Pros. But it got ripped off, copied to some analog format, traded around, copied many more times, and the quality of the video posted on YouTube is what you get.

I just want to say thanks for the updates. Nice to wake up on my day off to some good news. It's helpful to have threads like this one as a Keith and a Rolling Stones fan. From my perspective, all comments are welcome as it helps me get an idea about how things really are. This applies to all news. If only the tour was longer; hopefully they will get some studio time immediately after the to

Goes without saying, but the truth is that there has been some decline in their ability to perform as a live band, and the degree to which this has occurred lies somewhere between the two extremes in points of view on this thread. It is also probably true that Keith and everyone else will knock off some rust as the tour progresses. And of course all of us care, or else we wouldn't be here; h

QuoteGeorgV Keith's been playing more or less like this the last 4-5 years, so I do not understand why some people should make this such a big issue now? He has butchered intros to Start Me Up, Brown Sugar and others over the years without this massive kind of negative comments. Several threads up now about these issues had me worried. All this hysteria had me thinking Keith was playing

QuoteRockman Still wish you guys could drag it back to the "brickwall" subject ... I knew it. It's back to the original argument for those two. How much dynamic compression should we put on this thing? Do we want to sound more modern with the in-your-face loudness, maybe score a big hit, or do we want to give it some depth and warmth? I wonder who said what.. ;-)

Quotestonehearted It's very sensible of him to add those grey streaks in with his hair dye -- that way you'll believe he really doesn't dye his hair. He readily admits it on "Lucky Man". "That's why I still dye my hair"
