NBC in the US will be airing an interview with Mick on 14 June during the 8-9AM EDT broadcast of Sunday Morning with Willie Geist. A longer version will be posted on-line.
It appears to have been recorded in early May when Mick was in NYC doing promo interviews. Willie usually does quality interviews.

You get one point each for spotting the following:
1. "Billy Preston"
2. "Mick Taylor"
3. Jagger's sailor top from the IORR video
4. Recording the BVs for SFTD
5. Marianne Faithful or Anita Pallenberg (not sure which)
6. The tough-looking biker chick with the studded eye patch from 1969 MSG
7. Mick and Keith sharing onstage microphone like in Forum: Tell Me
James Phelge signed the title page to my copy of "Phelge's Stones" around 1999.
"Dear Ed,
I hope a stupid bastard like you can understand a book of this quality.
Best wishes,
James Phelge"
Interestingly, the publisher was Buncha A-hole Books. With A-hole spelled out correctly (which gets censored when posted here). Their logo is an upside down pair of underpants Forum: Tell Me
I expect many of us lived the Stones record releases in real time. That is, were 10 years old like me when the British invasion landed in the US in 1964.
Looking back in hindsight, the absolutely most exciting first tracks for me are JJF-YaYas and Brown Sugar. I was a senior in high school by then.

AAAAAH yes .. . . I remember back in the day (mid 70s?) he was the "it" guitarist among electric blues fans, but did not really break out from occasional FM radio airplay. He was considered to be a bit old-school and didn't fit well into guitar god status.

I have the 4k now and it is improved to my eyes and ears. Despite the hated cuts and sped up timing, I still love it.
Try to remember how it felt in the US to go 8 years without a Stones tour from 1981 to 1989. This film and my excellent VHS of the Hampton show I attended (thank you Video James) was all we had to fill the gap. Fond memories.

I have not seen it myself, but an NYT review reports that the "Melania" film opens with the Stone's Gimme Shelter. I guess that ABKCO gave permission and received a royalty.

Does anyone recall the Dirty Strangers? Keith and Ronnie played on their 1987 LP that was quite good. A favorite of mine at the time. I gotta dig that one out of my CD archives.
Maybe it's too obscure for this discussion. I'm pretty sure Alan Clayton is still active

Check out the time differences between the two shows and on tunes like Imagination. I was at both shows (among the best I've attended). They really stretch it out on the 18th and they seemed a bit like they wanted to finish on the 19th and leave town for Christmas.
My photos from the 19th are posted near the bottom of page 58 of the 1981-82 Wardrobe thread Forum: Tell Me

Back in the day, all we had was FM radio to hear rock n roll in all its forms. Pierre was at the center of the Philly scene. I first met him as a fellow big Stones fan while standing on crowded escalators and stairs exiting Madison Square Garden after one of the 1981 shows. I last saw him a few years ago introducing a Struts show in a Philly club.

Shapherd's Bush, Paradiso (both shows, Boston Orpheum, Tower Theater, Capitol Theater, NY (MTV 10 Spot 1997) are in the running, but the winner is . . . . Toad's Place 1989.

I met Stu in 1981 at the band's hotel in Syracuse NY (they were between shows at the Syracuse Dome). He was flipping through a men's magazine at the newsstand when I approached him. I remember asking if the band would please play Down the Road Apiece again during which I really enjoyed his piano, and that they should turn it up in the mix. He was very cordial and seemed a bit shy. Forum: Tell Me
We celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary in July. She has supported (mostly tolerated) my Stones fanboy life the entire time, probably because I'm a good provider and family man otherwise. We had a tongue on our 1975 wedding cake which was a few days before I cut short our honeymoon to catch a Stones show at Cobo Hall in Detroit. It only got worse (better) after that with me flying arou Forum: Tell Me
I was at both shows through luck, good contacts, and pulling out all stops in traveling from Philadelphia to Amsterdam 24 hours before the first show. Over the years, I've come to realize that those are among the best Stones shows I've ever seen, including MSG 1972 and Hampton 1981.

I saw 14 shows in the US, starting with the 2 openers in Philadelphia and ending with both Hampton,VA shows. The first shows were fairly rough, but fun with some unusual set lists. They improved steadily and were very much locked-in tight by the time they hit NYC and were masterful IMO in Hampton with some extended jamming like on Just My Imagination. We've all seen the Hampton pay-per-vi Forum: Tell Me
A friend reported that a trusted source relayed that there will be no more big tours. Instead probably some one-off performances like at festivals or maybe a residency. He noted that there was no reason given (everyone is healthy) and many in the touring band/support were quite disappointed when the news broke. That's it. No other news or speculation. Take it as a point in time from one Forum: Tell Me
Maybe this subject header should be retitled to something like "Stones Live in the 1990s" since it has evolved into more than a discussion of the 10 Spot show and may be worth continuing with more POVs and insights.

I was there that night. You can read my review from the old IORR magazine. It's a little overdone, but we were all younger then and less jaded.

Both Amsterdam Paradiso shows May 1995. Setlists, venue, band performance; all among the best ever. Many thanks to those who helped me get from Philadelphia to Amsterdam with advance notice and obtain tickets.

I was lucky to attend this show, being in the right place at the right time (in London on business). I was near the front and remember it being so tight I could lift up my feet and not fall over. I recall the great setlist of course. But, having recently attended 6 No Security shows, I also think it was a fairly sloppy loose performance and that Ronnie appeared drunk. Still I look forward to t Forum: Tell Me
It's our wedding anniversary today. 49 years and many Stones concerts later. Had to work around the 1975 tour dates. We also had a tongue on our wedding cake.

Yep Video James Karnbach wrote the text. Keep in mind that the next tour was not until 1989 and, for fans in the 80's, it really felt like the LAST TOUR for 7 years. I was at the Hampton '81 shows and for me it was an 8 year gap until Toad's Place.
