I dusted off VL just recently and was surprised at how well it holds up. By far their best work in the modern era (mid 80s to current) in my opinion.

QuoteRokyfan I thought his dominant keyboards spoiled many numbers on the 75 tour. Could not agree more. I remember reading a review of the Milwaukee County Stadium show, where someone described his keyboards as drowning out the rest of the band when his keyboards kicked in during HTW, literally shaking the entire stadium. With keyboards. Hard pass.

QuoteCamRS Kennedy, Although I am a fan of GHS and love this remix, I have been pondering the same thing since listening to the instrumentals. I think it was more than just Billy Preston influencing the Stones at the time. While I was not born until until later, in 1972-1973, Exile was still considered somewhat of a disappointment and produced no hit singles, which seemed like a big deal to

Let me start out by stating I realize I am in the minority when it comes to this album, as I know how beloved it is by so many. I am just not a fan of the Billy Preston tangent they took, and GHS reeks of Billy Preston to me. I am blown away by the alternate versions just released for Dancing w/ Mr D, Heartbreaker, and Hide Your Love. Guitar driven, MT on fire, Exile on Main Street swagge

I think the reverence to the 60s and 70s will fade as we all grow older, meaning our generation. I am on TikTok (because there are a lot of funny motherf**kers out there), and I see a lot of the younger generation show the same reverence to vintage Axl Rose and James Hetfield pictures from their heyday...much like we had for bands like the Stones, etc. Nothing makes you feel older than

Does anyone remember the interview a while back, but during the late era, where mick notices something on the floor next to his chair, picks it up, smells it, determines its hash, smiles and says "finders keepers!". I want to say late 90s?

Just a few years ago, I did an extensive "taste test" of all the popular 72 releases. Very unscientific, and purely based on the most satisfying performance and sound quality TO MY EARS. Philadelphia Special was my winner, hands down. Worthy of an official remaster and release for the Vault series.

QuoteJ.J.Flash Sucks my first time seeing them was in Wisconsin. 22nd row center was awesome though. I sat there for half the opening song just staring thinking "they're real" look they're right there. It was weird. lol That was my reaction as a 12 year old seeing them in person in 1981. 11/23/81 at Rosemont Horizon. After all that time only seeing them on TV and endles

Bill Graham was pretty open and honest in his book about how he hyped attendance figures and sell-out times to create more hype and demand. He was a brilliant big event marketer. Example, the whole "sold out the Superdome in 9 minutes" type claims were more marketing "liberties" more than fact. It was all about getting that 2nd and 3rd show added to a market, because

I grabbed most of the post ABKCO releases on Japanese SHM/SACD a couple years ago. Well worth it if you have the equipment for it. Black & Blue and Emotional Rescue really shine in this format. Audiophile grade.

Quotemickschix Mick's hair was very long and blackish during the Hyde Park concert in July 1969 because he's just finished PERFORMANCE, right? Not a wig. I agree that he'd not take a chance of it coming off with hundreds of photographers around. His hair looked similar during " Rock N' Roll Circus" for the same reason....almost black & very long....I like his rea

After further review, Crosseyed Heart certainly deserves one of the top 2 spots. Keith's best solo work, period.

QuoteStoneage I'm more of a Ernie Watts fan. He had a free flow and connected very well with the band. Added another dimension. I have nothing against Bobby Keys but he kind of did his spots and then was out. Not much improvising there. On the other hand he didn't encroach on the two guitarists. I understand he was a good friend with Keith so...there you go. Ernie Watts is certainly

QuoteDoxa If I am a Trump supporter, and this event is a collaboration with The WHO, and made to support the mentioned UN-organisation (that according to the president of the United States of America is with China the cause for this epidemia to spread), should I boycott it? This was the last show he was still using his 81/82 voice. Deeper to conserve it. By the Australia tour, he had reverted to singing in tune and over-enunciating similar to Steel Wheels.

QuoteGAFF I really want to visit Austin, but I'll do it another time. Everything I've heard about the venue led me to cancel my room and book Minneapolis instead. Smart decision. You definitely need to hit Austin and spend a long weekend though. The show though just sounds like a big cluster-f. Maybe if I was 20 years younger.

If you are planning to spend a couple extra days in Austin, these 2 food spots are a MUST: 1. The original Chuys on Barton Springs. Best Tex-Mex on the planet. But only the original location. 2. Salt Lick BBQ. It's a ways out of town, so you may want to carpool with the group. It's got a great outdoor area with lots of seating and entertainment if there is a wait, which is li
