Doxa, I too have never heard Charlie's drumming in every Stones number as I hear now.

Quotebv I always took them for granted. Still do. I don't accept that Charlie has passed away - in my mind. At nights I have dreams about Charlie. Sure I see there is no car number four with Carlie anymore, but it is still not real for me. They have been with me in my life for fifty years on one month now. I hope they live forever. Commiserating hugs to you BV, even though I don't kno

QuoteTopi Thing is though, Darryl is an US citizen, he didn't require a visa or quarantine to re-enter. Mick and Ronnie aren't, even though Keith obviously has permanent residence in the US. QuoteU.S. citizens and lawful permanent residents are allowed to return from the United Kingdom, Ireland, and the European Schengen area Not sure how tricky it would have been for Mick

Quotemickschix So, Gazza, the " left field suggestions" are the " deep cuts"...the rare gem that are added to the set list? Where does the resistance to adding more of these gems come from? Is it because Keith might have difficulty performing certain songs because of his arthritis? Many of the songs I'd love to hear are 4 chord wonders from the 60's...not hard to mas

QuoteJadedFaded First the large group bow. Then Mick, Keith and Ronnie bow. Then a picture of Charlie on ALL 4 screens, with Mick, Keith and Ronnie turning to bow to Charlie. And the crowd will chant CHARLIE, CHARLIE, CHARLIE for a very long time. Many of us will cry a fountain of tears. You should work for them!!

Completely unprecedented to win a Slam from qualifiers. It was a good match too, despite the score not looking close. Fernandez is a fighter, but I thought she was inferior in all departments, not just serve. Time to improve at just 19, mind. Final and whole tournament from what I saw was a wonderful advertisement for women's tennis - far more interesting than the men's game atm.

QuoteIrix QuoteCooltoplady He’s being sarcastic toward some of the suggestions So, what's your suggestion then? I think we can trust them to work it out - I'm guessing Steve Jordan will bow with the other non-principals and wouldn't want it otherwise, but it's up to them. We, and no doubt they, will feel a Charlie sized hole in the line-up whatever they do. For mysel

I think interviews are a bit tricky for the Stones at this point. Pretty obviously, a major topic any reporter wants to ask about would be Charlie and his death. Not only painful to have to talk about in public but, on any showing, a bit of a downer of a topic when you are trying to flog tickets to a tour! Whatever they say can only highlight a major component of the band is gone and they are

QuoteIanBillen Over two weeks since he has passed and we still don't know what the cause was (no info on that at all?). In modern times I've never heard of a rock star passing (especially suddenly) and two weeks pass and there is no information / reason given as to what occurred. Not saying it's a conspiracy .. but they are hiding the facts, obviously (and the world press is ob

Quotemakemeburnthecandle One positive thing that may come from Charlie’s passing is that Mick & Keith will bond and be more closer to each other. This is my, somewhat sentimental, hope. Whatever has gone down over the years, it was a potent friendship in the past and their names and reputations will be forever linked because of the music. At this stage in the game, no-one knows how much t

QuoteMAF Quoteribbelchips Tomorrow it has been a week since the sad news.. Isn't it a bit strange that we haven't gotten ANY information or news at all since then? Nothing about the cause of death, the (date of the) funeral The cause of death: It's private and not our business. Funeral: Maybe we get some news after the funeral. It will not be a big public event. Death certificat

I never actually met him but the nearest I got was waiting to go into a smallish theatre in London (The New Ambassadors) for a "Boogie for Stu" fundraiser in 2011 where all the surviving Stones apart from Mick and Keith (but including Taylor) played with Ben Waters, Jools Holland, Axel Zwingenberger and Mick Hucknall. Charlie arrived on foot (with Bill) and said hello and a few pleasan

Quoterayrad bob lefsetz wrote a lovely piece about charlie: and he always posts the replies most were about meeting charlie - and what a gent he always was thought i'd paste them in here: Over the years Simple Minds have worked with the Rolling Stones on a number of occasions, mostly at various European festivals. It’s always an honour, albeit surreal. How come? Duh… Becaus

Quotez For those wondering about a word from Mick Taylor about Charlie's death, here's something posted by Marlies, MT's girlfriend: "MT is ok, although he is trying to get his head around the awful news we received 2 days ago. I had to inform him after a friend sent me a msg. During the '50 & Counting' and '14 On Fire' tours MT and CW renewed their f

Quoteterraplane Well take Mick or Keith out of the band and it would never have had the success they had. Although Charlie, Bill and Brian made big contributions in their own right for sure. I always thought Mick was the closer to Charlie but I could be wrong. It will be hard for all three to go on without their mate for sure. Charlie was certainly photographed more with Mick socially away f

Quote24FPS You're assuming there would be a funeral and an actual burial. I think Charlie, just my opinion, would abhor having one of those rock star gravesites where 'fans' leave empty liquor bottles, joints, etc. I believe Lennon and Harrison were cremated, ashes scattered. Charlie might do the same, after a private memorial service with close friends and family. I'm certa

There are no pandemic restrictions on funeral attendance numbers in England at the moment. It is not uncommon for a funeral here to take place several weeks after death. Timing depends on logistics. I was thinking that travel restrictions will be far more of a problem if the Watt's family want friends and colleagues to have the chance to attend. There are quarantine restrictions entering t

Quotebv I am in Cancun Mexico on my own, doing the 14 days needed to go on the US Tour 2021 in September, due to the US Covid-19 rules. As I get the news about Charlie passing today, I get so sad. The Rolling Stones are my other family. I spend 25% or more of my life on The Rolling Stones. I used to call myself Charlie when I became a Stones fan exactly 50 years ago this month, back in August 197

This has always been my perspective. As long as any combo of them wants to and can tour/play in public, they should - Bluesmen never stop playing - but without any of the main three they are no longer the Rolling Stones.
