It very much depends if they're still playable or not. Many pressings now suffer from 'cd-rot'- whereby the discs oxidise (it gives the playing side a 'brassy' kind of colour). Just a little update: Maybe I was being a bit harsh. I'd only judged the recording through my pc's speakers & the bass must've been overloading them. I just burned a cdr, took a listen through my hi-fi & it's actually not bad at all :-). Certainly a nice find after so many years.

The Amazon boxset IS a good deal imo- even though I have no intention of buying these remasters (I agree, that the Virgin remasters sound perfectly good). Also- a remastered version of 'A Bigger Bang'?!- I think not. HOWEVER- my advice for collectors, is: grab the censored version while you can- it was probably a pressing error in the first place.
