Quotericcardo99 To me the most remarkable track is Tell Me Baby (How Many Times) the Big Bill Broonzy song which is presented as Tell Me 1st version but it is not,it comes from Chess Studios in 64 and from bootleg, therefore it is a bootleg track on an official release alongside with CS Blues another reason why they had to stop selling the LP box officially when Decca found out. Thanks guys & I agree, if the record companies just can't be bothered to release something just a little different, then you can't blame the bootleggers for taking advantage of demand. I'm in the UK, so I guess the material once considered rare in certain territories has now been available for some time on eg: 'The Singles Collection', the dinky boxes, with the

Hi All, Sorry if this has already been discussed, but as many will know- DAC just released another 'non-numbered' 2cd, which isn't part of their catalogue, but a kind of 'sideways' release similar to their 'Complete Ya Ya's' cd. In other words, it's pirated official material. It's the old (quite rare) German Decca 4-disc set from the earl

I only just noticed this thread, I'm not 'taking sides' & this part of the forum IS called 'Buy, Sell & Trade'. BUT- it takes time to build-up trust here, so coming along with a very, very expensive item to sell as a first-time poster probably isn't the best idea. If this was a bootleg, the situation would (ironically) maybe be different- as at least you woul

In some ways it just seems 'trendy' to me to knock EVERY ONE of these boxes. Sure- some/most have pressing errors on a couple of the discs, but the proportion that don't outweighs them. When I was scoring through dusty racks at record fairs all those years ago- I'd have been over the moon to find boots like this. For beginners especially they offer a pretty good over-view of c

QuotePeterdv it would be nice to know if this release is outranking the IMP release from a while ago? anyone ? tx Hi there :-). Firstly: BIG PROPS TO KEESIE for sharing this & so many other things. The last thing I want to do is appear like I'm somehow 'complaining'. However, I bought this silver DAC release myself, so I guess I can give you my own opinion (& others ma

Quotemidnrambler The new source was on Dime a few months ago. It is indeed a new source. I don't think that this new DAC release is a rip-off. The recording informations on the cover are true. Hi :-). I didn't mean that the info was wrong, more like DAC have managed to turn this old warhorse into a VERY expensive, 4-cd package. Personally, I'm not particularly interested in the o

Hi All:-) I was hoping that one of you kind folks could help me here please: DAC have just released a 4cd version of 'Live'r Than You'll Ever Be' (see photo's). This looks like a complete rip-off, so I'm certainly not thinking of BUYING this thing!. I'm just curious about the 2nd disc, which features a 'new, alternate source' of this classic show

QuoteDiddleyBo Many thanks, Keessie!! ABSOLUTELY!. I have nothing but respect for the people who generously share these titles here. I'd do the same if I wasn't so old & stupid! :-). I wouldn't have commented if I'd just downloaded this- it would've sounded rude & ungrateful. Hopefully what I said didn't come across that way.

Quotedcba And is it an upgarade over the nice "Jamming with Stu" boot (VGP-240)? This is some of my favourite booted studio material, as it's not as overproduced as the finished record & also in wonderful quality on 'Jamming With Stu'. That being the case & having a temporary lack of sense- I ordered this new DAC title. I just wanted to add that preamble, so as

Hi All :-) This is a real 'can of worms' isn't it?. To be fair, I never described this Berlin release as being an 'upgrade'- just that it appeared to be in stereo & that it was described that way on Hotwacks. I stand by my original post, where I said the version of this recording on VGP's 'Roll Over Beethoven' has more 'punch' & bottom

Hi guys- I'm not just saying this to provoke a riot, but by a VERY strange coincidence- I was just listening to this 'Pave Boulder' no-label 2cd (I've had it in my collection for some time). It's always sounded pretty dreadful to my ears- VERY trebley & harsh, with the wind constantly changing the sound. I couldn't even get through it all (!). I was trying again,

Hi All, This is really a question for the few old dinosaurs like me, who still collect factory-pressed boots :-) (or are still interested in 'new' releases): Really, this is related to another thread, where a new Japanese boot label ('For Fans Only') was being discussed, as they recently released Berlin 1970 in stereo. I thought this subject was worth a separate topic

QuoteEleanor Rigby thanks MrsHop. so to sum it all up, the FFO version is the BEST version and lowest gen for this show? thanks I don't know what's out there in 'torrent-land', but as far as I'm aware: Yes :-)

QuoteRank Stranger Thanks for your comments, MrsHop! Up to now, most fans regarded another bootleg, namely "Shake Your Hips" VGP-078 as the best source for that show. This bootleg is still available from UrbanSteel here: I owned 'Shake Your Hips', but actually sold it recently as the version of the Berlin on 'Roll Over Beethoven'VGP-261 is MUCH better imo

QuoteEleanor Rigby yes - very interesting...anyone have it? Hi guys. Yes- I have it, but I'm in the unfortunate position of being clueless when it comes to uploading anything. So, all I can do is give you my opinion: I actually bought this 'For Fans Only' release on the strength of the review posted on 'HotWacks', which said it was the best release of this show so far

Many thanks Vancouver & everyone - this is great! :-). Unfortunately, I'm completely HOPELESS when it comes to uploading anything. However I CAN download things, which makes me feel a bit of a 'parasite' sometimes. Anyway- I put these covers together if anyone would like them. At least it makes me feel I'm contributing something!.

Many VGP titles are still available & can be bought for $45 for a double & $35 for a single disc release. That's the lowest price I've ever come across. However, the titles that are sold out can actually fetch as much as $200-300 each. These titles are sold-out for a good reason, ie: they were very good! :-). This applies to some of the later issue numbers too, not just the earl

Quotemitch I agree with you it is boring to see the same material released over and over, but it is always great to have upgrades. The logic of DAC outtakes releases is to reissue old vinyl boots with the best sound possible even if some tracks appears on different releases. With "More Fast Numbers" and "Paris Results", we already have double tracks with different sound q

Quotemitch "Better Results" is also re-issued today by DAC!... I think DAC did a very good job with 'Paris Results' & 'Sheep Dip Blues'. OK, there's some hiss, but I'd rather hear that & have this material in stereo. So, all's well in that department imo. BUT.... Wasn't the whole point of OBR's 'Better Results' to offer

I'm not sure where the lyrics came from at the start of the this thread (nice to see them 'in black & white' though :-)). It may seem a bit 'nit-picky', but the 2nd line doesn't contain the phrase: "I'm a yard off my pace", but the far less subtle (& very old-school Brit' phrase): "I'm a yard of my piss".

QuoteErik_Snow BUT - I agree; it's not a disaster - like some previous DAC releases. It's just that the small change they did with the original source was uneccessary. So Paris Results is no upgrade.....well, it's a great compilation/bootleg anyway - it's impossible to find those OBR releases, without spending 100s of dollars....or euro Have a nice weekend, Doolittle

Hi All :-) OK- let's just calm down here & get back to the original point, ie: DAC's 'Just A Kiss Away' etc. I've had the pleasure of hearing Erik's torrent & this new DAC (as I bought it). I'm certainly not saying it should be a case of downloads v/s torrents & it doesn't even bother me that DAC (& other Japanese boot labels) use torrent
