In 1971 Keith Richards rented Nellcôte in south of France the "Gestapo headquarters during the Second World War complete with swastikas on the floor vents" if you believe what's written in Exile on Main St.: A Season in Hell with the Rolling Stones by Robert Greenfield.

With all the recent talk about Zeppelin, here's how popular they are compared to my favs, the Stones, in album sales. The Stones have released albums for 40 years; I believe 42 official releases. Led Zeppelin released 8 albums while together between 1969 and 1979, plus the outtakes, BBC, live and box sets, etc. Look at where the two rank in certified album sales. And one sixth of the Stones

Since that thread is closed...I never saw the need to add guitar solos to SMU, Satisfaction, etc. when played live. The studio recordings have stood the test of time and don't have guitar solos. Sometimes less is more when playing live. If you have a 21 year old Mick Taylor on stage, then maybe you have a reason to let it rip on those songs. Keith is one of the best song writers and guit

My wife and I were on stage and on camera for the second half of John Mellencamp's VH1 Storytellers filmed in Chicago. VH1 shows it pretty often. (The two in those seats the first half of the show do a popular Chicago morning radio show and had to leave early because they wake up at 3 a.m.)

When the album was first released I heard that "Tattoo You" was a loose acronym for "Tits and Ass To You." Probably not the literary or Biblical reference you were looking for, franzk! You all probably know these: Blinded by Love (Steel Wheels) make a blatant reference to Edward VIII proposing marriage to the American divorcée Wallis Simpson in 1936 and then abdicating h

To think this song was recorded in 1979 and did not make Emotional Rescue! Maybe they are too close to their songs and can't hear the magic in them??? I'd say the same for Misty Roads, I Need You, Not The Way To Go, What Gives You the Right... It's amazing that they didn't think they were release worthy. They are some of my favorite songs.

I agree with Bass about the "Friday Night Is Killing Me" album by Bash & Pop. One of my favorite albums. There are a few obsure albums like that that have a very Stonesy sound with a great combination of acoustic ballads and weaving guitar rockers. Others I'd recommend for fellow Stones fans: Izzy Stradlin and the Ju Ju Hounds. There is a duet with Izzy Stradlin (the Keith

Sorry about the vagueness of my question, dmay. Vista gave me all kinds of warnings about the file and I didn't recognize the blue icon which differs than all the others I have downloaded. Worked fine. Incredible post. Thanks!

Thanks, Edmund. I was at this show so it's great to have on my iPod. There is no "Chicago University" but this show was at the United Center in Chicago where the Chicago Bulls basketball team plays. (There is a University of Chicago, but the Stones have never played there.)
