A very good evening. Lots of big cheers for Charlie, who smiled a lot - clearly enjoying himself. Towards the end Ben threw him a drum solo - which results is some modest bashing of the drum kits and some choice words back from Charlie - who continue to grin widely. At one point it could have been a Rocket 88 gig - their version of, I think, Roll-em Pete sounded just like that recording. I

...if this is true, then it explains why Ronnie was is Amsterdam for a Stones meeting a week or so ago. No doubt the others were there too. 50:50 chance I think.

I think Mick and Keith are very successful at protecting their real self by projecting their "Stones" personality to the outside world. Maybe they didn't do this in the sixties, but by the end of the seventies they certainly were doing that. You have to answer the "who kept the band together?", or "who is the real soul of the band?" questions with that in mi

I had a hand in the Tim Ries gig at the Mean Fiddler in 2007 - underwrote some of the costs in return for some money for the charity it supported (and many many thanks to Tim R for suggesting this idea when we were chatting in Spain a few weeks before, and to all the "boys" from the band for playing). It was reasonably tough selling the 250 tickets we did sell - partly because Tim wa

Not sure how this can be "opportunist"... I know for a fact that to get this produced Tim had to fund most of it himself. Few record companies will put money up in advance, so all the studio and production time/costs, and some of the minor artists, need paying. And its not a trivial sum. Having heard two of these tracks being played live in London last year, I am full of expectation

This week I played in a band that did a charity gig at the 100 Club in London - scene of a "club" gig in 1982 and the Ian Stewart tribute gig in 1986. So playing on the very same stage as the band has used - even in the same part of the stage as Keith! and we did HTW and BSugar. The wall have several photos from those gigs, including Pete Townsend and Simon Kirke from the Stu gi

Plant seems to do plenty of Led zep songs in his setlist with Alison K, and he did so with Page/Plant as well. Sure he produces some great stuff post-Zeppelin; better than Page. That must make the "cover band" tour as I have heard him quoted saying, more difficult to accept. I read this interview as saying that they are putting material togther now, and will be playing it for a year

Quote from an article in the Times today: Mr Cameron tells of an encounter with Jade Jagger and her father, the lead singer of the Rolling Stones. While he was at Oxford Mr Cameron’s younger sister, Clare, came to visit him, bringing with her a school friend, Jade, then 15. They all spent the afternoon punting on the river, but the following week Mr Cameron’s mother, Mary, received a call at h

If Ronnie is far enough thru detox to be normally lucid, and lets hope he is, then April could make sense and lines up with the last few "ventures". Except it won't be the start of the tour, it will be the recording sessions - which will be followed by rehearsals and a Tour starting during the last summer.. fingers crossed - 2008 has been boring

As I think I have said before on this forum, they need to find a financial model that works a) without stadiums (cold and wet for them and us) and b) in only 2-3 month bursts (so they retain a life) and c) where nobody complains about the lack of "glitz" in the stage show etc. Anybody with the business plan for this, send it to Mick, Richmond, London; Keith, Weston, Connecticut; Ronn

Mick and Keith together when not on tour usually means one of three things: a band business meeting (Mayfair is the usual location, so unlikely) , mixing some tracks (do they have enough in the can for a "Tattoo You" style of release - odds and ends from the last few years), or planning the next expedition.

I think Keith in an interview stated that he would prefer Arena gigs as stadiums could be too cold... Touring gaps as follows (counting less than say 10 gigs in a year as a touring year): 74 77 79,80 83,84,85,86,87,88 91,92,93 96 00,01 04 08 .... So, in the last 12 years, from 2008, 4 years off. in the previous 12 years, 7 years off. in the 12 years before that (starting in 1
