Back in 1971 I made C-90 cassettes of my favorite music for travel with a portable cassette player. One of my faves was Sticky Fingers one side and Aqualung on the other. I also recommend the first 2 Blodwyn Pig albums. BPig was formed by Mick Abrahams after leaving the early JTull lineup. HBK

Fully engaged geeky audiophiles (I know a few), believe that Macintosh is coasting on a reputation built in 60s-80s and is no longer the best of the best. Many manufacturers of high-end tube amps have far surpassed them in quality, price and reputation. I have Audio Research tube amps myself. HBK

Great topic for those of us getting on in life. Another point of view here: In my case, people are hopefully going to think fondly of me and not be sad whenever they hear a Stones song. So yes, there will be Stones songs at my memorial service someday . . . a long time from now . . but I am 65 and you never know when you will draw the black card. Last year a good Stones friend of many ye

OK, I'm back with my next set of photos from 1981. We left off with my shots from NYC MSG. My next stop on the tour was Syracuse Carrier Dome for two shows on Fri/Sat of the Thanksgiving weekend. I decided not to bring my camera and just enjoy the shows. Sound was a horrible echo, but I was able to move up front for both shows where it was loud and clear. I met Stu in the hotel newsstan

I think the predictions are fun but I like surprises too. Last year at this time, no one was predicting the Eagles to win it all. So what will be this year's surprise? Eagles win it again !!! Bwaaa Haw Haw. (probably not - repeating is a bitch). HBK

Here's few more from NYC MSG. Sorry for the fuzzy telephoto focus. Next stop Landover, Maryland (outside Washington DC) where I had much better seats for taking photos. New York City - Madison Square Garden Part 3

New York City I'm back. So we left off in Philly on Sep 26 which was followed by a stadium show in Buffalo before the tour headed west and south, not returning to arenas on the East Coast until early November. I saw all 3 nights at Meadowlands, NJ but security was tight and my seats weren't close enough for decent photos. However, at the first Madison Square Garden show on the Nov

Here's a few more from Philly Day 1. Next post will be Philly Day 2 and a wardrobe change. On Day 2, I brought a milk crate into the stadium to stand on amidst the mass of rowdies up front. I saw folks with coolers, chairs and more on Day 1 . . . talk about No Security. HBK

I decided to post my 1981 photos in chronological order. So we'll start with that beautiful Fall afternoon in Philadelphia. I started by going to the rear of JFK Stadium (since demolished as was Veterans Stadium behind it) to get a shot of the stage before the Stones came on. Then I moved to a spot within the mob about 100 feet from the stage for the rest of the show. I've seen pl

It's a bit long-winded but there is a historical touchpoint for many fans.

Regarding the mystery photo above, I checked my pix and they are all wearing the exact outfits they wore for Hampton 2, including the patch on Ronnie's knee and Mac's shirt. This shot appears to be just before going onstage. Plus the backstage area even looks like Hampton Colosseum. HBK

QuoteSomeGuy The issue reminds me of a little known band who lost their drummer in 1980, not twelve years into their highly succesful -even by Stones standards- career, bandmembers in their early to mid 30s, and they called it quits immediately and even canceled their then imminent American tour. I sure hope that Mick and Keith, in their mid 70s, will be as sensible in case Charlie were to retire
