We've all heard about the story when Andrew "locked up" Mick and Keith in a room and told them to come up we one song of their own. I think they wrote"as tears go by" in that kitchen. Right now I am reading a book called "The friendship of Wordsworth and Coleridge" by Adam Sisman. On page 135,the poet Coleridge is pressured by his editor to come up with written

What I wish for the next album is more of Keith Richards input; songs, guitars and backing vocals with Mick. Although I like ABB very much, I feel like Mick was more behind it than Keith. I hope that Keith's health is good and that when the time comes to work on the new album he'll be inspired and ready to kick ass. Rock and Roll, Thierry

CHEESE! Talking about cheese brings the French out of me. Here are a few of my favorites. Like with wines it is maybe arrogant to claim that the French ones are the best in the world (matter of taste) but the diversity makes the french wines and cheeses very impressive and unique;we take that shit very seriously in France. Vive la difference!! Rock and Roll, Mops French Cheeses: Abondance B

I think that the stones have released everything that was "useable" from the ABB sessions therefore they will probably prefer to write fresh material for a new album. They have lots of songs from the past which could be reworked "a la Tattoo You" but they seem to like to record new songs when it's a possible option. Status Quo has the funniest album title ever for a rock/blues band "In the search of the fourth chord" That is hilarious!!!! Monty Python sense of humor I suppose. Rock and roll, Thierry

In 1988 I bought Brian Wilson's first solo album and I listened to it all the time. My friends didn't like it at all but I couldn't get enough of it. 1990 I moved to the USA, leaving my records in France. 2006 I bought the CD version of the Wilson first record but after a few spins I realised it didn't do anything to me; the magic didn't stick in fact it was gone. Gazza said: "Most of the Stones compositions probably arent "about" anyone in particular. I would imagine, like many writers, they write from a fictional perspective, as observers of other people's lives or when they write about real people they tend to be composites." That is very true especially when Mick is the main writer. Keith seems to be more specific and ready

Most of the Rolling Stones songs aren't too difficult to play. Now to play them well enough to win over " rolling stones fanatics approval" that is very difficult. Rock and roll, Mops

To compare the experience of a great show in the front rows with watching a movie even in the best format possible(Imax) is risky. Nothing can be better than to be at a show close to the stage on a night when The Stones are on fire. That experience is unique. Now anything that you are going to experience after that will probably be "not as great as that night". But don't be too ext

I saw The Rolling Stones in Baltimore february 1,2006. Amazing show. Keith was rocking,I was third row on his side. Keith was in great shape, moving around, swinging his guitar, doing his Keith Richards thing. He was fantastic!!! Now I saw him again November 17,2006 at the Boardwalk arena in Atlantic city. I was on Ronnie's side row 17. Keith's on stage presence was not the same. He was no

Bo's music played a major role in shaping the sound of the early rolling stones. Bo was an original, an eccentric. I met him in 1987 at a gig he played at the Dingwalls in Camden, London. He was great, very entertaining and funny. I went backstage, shook his hand and noticed how red his eyes were behind those big glasses of his; Bo was high was kite and super friendly. Rest in peace big man.

"No one cares anymore" It may be true but whoever enjoys the Stones doesn't need the approval of the greatest #. They have compose a juge amount of music that speaks for itself. They can't be "the new thing" anymore, and they really don't have to be.And the "No ones" are what they are ;NO ONES. @#$%& it. The Stones rock baby!!! Rock and Roll, Mops

It is a great messageboard. Lots of information and fun. As a stone fanatic,it is a place where I can go and exchange toughts with fellow nutstones. My co-workers, my friends and my familly members don't want to ear me talking about the stones anymore. Anyway it is useless to get too deep in the Rolling Stones subject with someone who don't really care. That board has become my favorite

I think the OH Yeahs of the 60's were more like shouts. In the 70's with Glam rock they became more luscious, nasty and sexy; those are the good ones. In fact in the early 70's when I discovered the Stones those Jagger's Oh Yeahs were one of the reasons I could identify the stones. I am french so Oh yeah isn't an expression that we use as frequently as the brits and the

I don't know who was the first one to sing "Oh Yeah" in a song, but if that person would have copyrighted it he/she would be every rich by now. I think the Beatles used it before the Stones but Mick Jagger turned it into something very glamourous. My favorite "OH yeahs" are heard in DooDooDooDooDoo (heartbreaker) and Silver Train. Anybodyelse thinks that Oh Yeahs are co

The last waltz celebrates The band but also the music of the Band. SAL pays tribute to the Stones but not their entire musical carreer because the Stones are still a working band. The movie TLW is dramatic because those guys are not going to play together anymore. SAL is for the most part showing the Stones on stage. I believe that those 2 movies are quite different but TLW is unique due to the

I believe firmly that they would tour without Ronnie. It is hard to imagine but if something @#$%& up would happen to the woodpicker, the stones would keep rolling. They would probably take a solid session man, not a rockstar,to fill-in Ron's shoes. Fortunately Ron is well and rocking hard. Mops

Although reading music is a great skill I am not sure that it is an essential one when the music played is rock and roll and blues. It definitely helps as a mean of communication among the musicians during a session. It is similar to a text that the musicians can all read at the same time; it probably saves lot of time. But there is also lot of information (feeling, sounds) that can't be put

The Rolling Stones tour very often, they do films, they are in the media all the time. Being "overexposed" probably takes away a little bit of the "cool" aspect. When they came back in 1989, they were really cool and that was already 17 years after their coolest period (1972). But who cares if the average joe find them not cool. For me, a fanatic, they will always be the coole

I saw him a month ago in Falls Church. The theater was almost packed and Johnny was great, in fact better than he was in 2000 at that same State theater. He now plays seated and he seems to be blind but his playing is still unbelievable. His band, drums, bass and guitar helps him a lot. Johnny is still able to play the blues like nobody else. I was standing up just few feet from the stage and I w

The Rock and Roll Circus clip is overdubbed with a studio version of JJF. I like the SAL sound track and I like JJF. Of course Mick doesn't sound the same as he did in 68. But to me he is still a great performer with lot of energy and charisma. I am not writting to persuade anybody; if you don't like him that is fine with me because nobody is going to change my opinion of the Stones. If

Keith doesn't care about the new english bands because lots of them have been influenced by the Stones or the beatles.Instead of having a paternalistic view on those bands he prefers to hate them all which is a more rock and roll approach to the problem. You go Keith!!! and all those little buggers won't last anyway and Keef knows it. Mops

I saw the movie last week; it is great. The first minutes are really cool then one gets used to the special effects but the whole film remains an exciting experience. It is funny because at some points the close ups are so real that I almost got out of my seat. But the director is careful not to be aggressive with the viewer. I can only imagine someone using the same technology with an "in
