What a riveting special. Either had no idea, or completely forgot, how talented the guy was. He plays a guitar solo in the special that's among the best I've ever heard. There's a story in Rolling Stone that quotes his daughter saying he is not doing too well now. How sad. His wife comes off as pretty Kardashian in this special, however.

Nothing could be worse than Jack White on Loving Cup. Ruined the song forever.

The greatest IORR message board comment of all-time was on this thread. SFTD - Even the devil is tired of this one. Ha! Classic!

Whenever, wherever and however this ends, has anyone stopped to realize that "Satisfaction" will have been the last song they will have played together as a band?

I don't care how great you say he is. He still completely ruined "Loving Cup'' forever after that abysmal duet with Mick on "Shine a Light." For me, it hasn't sounded the same since.

One of the best quotes ever: "Most bands wanted to be the Beatles or the Stones. Kiss wanted to be McDonald's.''

I happen to be a fan of Garcia's moody playing and the intellect and self-effacing humor he often displayed in interviews. However, I can see why the Dead is not everyone's cup of tea. The music could be downright boring and horrible, let's face it. That being said, no singer or songwriter, including Dylan, ever wrote a better lyric than "If your cup is full may it be again

"Tryin' To Get To You'' on Elvis' 1968 Comeback Special is one of the best moments in rock history, if not the best. No one has ever exuded such raw emotion and talent and it comes out even to his surprise. Also, no person, male or female, has ever looked that good.

Not Fade Away was the best. There is a moment after the song at a show in New Jersey where Mick looks at Keith, shrugs his shoulders and smiles. Even he thought it was cool. It's on youtube.

Keith wearing a shirt with musical notes on it? Um, I guess it's cool.

This one's easy ... I'm on Fire by Dwight Twilley. A song that still grooves nearly 40 years later.

Can't forgive him for ruining "Loving Cup" with his terrible performance on "Shine a Light.''

Terribly overrated. Every song sounds the same.

Pretty revealing that "Jet Airliner" "The Joker" and "Take the Money and Run'' have been played on U.S. radio almost as much as "Stairway to Heaven" and "More Than a Feeling'' over the past 35 years and still no one mentioned the Steve Miller Band. (All that airplay and I still don't know what the guy looks like.)
