Fantastic song, the perfect example of the essentials of the Stones: the groove, the swagger, the rhythm, Mick's voice, everything is perfect. It works great live too.

Quote24FPS Finally heard the CD last night, on loan from the local library. For this we have 232 pages? It sounds just like those Expensive Winos CDs from the late 80s, early 90s. No real stand out cut. (I like Bill Wyman's 'What & How & If & Where & Why single better). Keith can still play an impressive acoustic, and his bass playing is better than Darryl. That's

Quotemailexile67 terrible are:"Sweet neocon", "Infamy", "Look what the cat...", "Driving too fast" and..."Streets of love"! Yes, but painfully terrible is only "Sweet neocon". "Infamy" is cringeworthy. The rest that you mention is just bad, apart from "Streets of Love" which I think is okayish.

Quoteblivet QuoteBreakingBlues Quoteblivet Quotematxil4) Thank God they never tried hip-hop or electric music. Whatever you think about that music, it would be a disaster for the Stones. I would give anything to hear Mick try to rap. Then I would shoot myself. Isn't Memo From Turner basically a rap song? Or at least the bridge of ASMB? I see what you're getting at, but I wouldn&

QuoteTurner68 People often do. Sometimes people even think that it was Taylor coming on board that was responsible for the greatness of the big 4, when that is clearly not the case since he wasn't on BB and just did a couple overdubs on LIB! I think you're right in that Jimmy Miller is big part of the answer. Reasons why the Big Four Albums were so good: 1) Keith made a huge jump

Quotewith sssoul QuoteDandelionPowderman Quotematxil QuoteMaindefender According to Steve Jordan BITM was cut in 15 minutes, one take I believe. Hopefully somebody can find the quote from the many publications, I will also keep looking. His guitar-assistent (or whatever it's called), Pierre Beaumont (I'm not sure about the name either) says so in the "Under the Influence"

QuoteMaindefender QuoteStoneburst Not really, no. More to the point, the famous recording of Let It Rock from the Leeds show is (as far as we know) authentic - no overdubs or edits, unlike say Ya-Ya's. We have no idea how many takes Blues In The Morning is a product of, but I would bet it's quite a few. According to Steve Jordan BITM was cut in 15 minutes, one take I believe. Hopefull

QuoteStoneburst I have read it. Not all 231 pages (having, alas, neither the time or energy for that) but the last ten or so, and I don't see what all the fuss is about. What did Doxa say that was so wrong? He did comment on the music, then made a pretty lighthearted and uncontroversial comment about a small number of Keith partisans. The OTT reaction to what he said just proves his point.

QuoteDandelionPowderman Where is the constructive criticism from the people who don't like the album of THE MUSIC on CH in this thread? People who are criticising me for discussing songs from that album in this thread make me laugh. Isn't that why we're here in the first place? No agendas, no campaigning, no groupthink - just discussing the album. Wouldn't that be nice?

I just saw "Under the Influence" on Netflix. I thought it was a nice documentary. Nothing new, nothing particular deep, just a nice overview of where he is coming from and what moves him. I liked the way he interacted with Steve Jordan. And I liked the interviews with Tom Waits, although I am not sure I understood all his metaphors. My girlfriend asked me how come the Stones are still

I don't think I surmise much from them. Maybe their first ones, up till Aftermath: a bunch of snotty young men, looking morosely, slightly hostile into the camera. You could read a lot into Exile. And maybe into Black & Blue: here is that same bunch of men, not so young anymore and a lot more "torn and frayed". But most of their album covers look just silly, or funny, b

I think it's a big mistake that he's not promoting the album more (more singles, and a tour to back it up). What a waste. Even if he really wants to make another Stones album, couldn't it wait a bit? I don't understand: he made a great albu
