QuoteGasLightStreet QuoteHMSThe playing and singing on Flashpoint is top notch and you can find some of their greatest songs ever on the album. Eh, if you like clean strings and grunting. Greatest songs? So what. That's no automatic reason it's a good album - otherwise LIVE LICKS would be rated 11. Start Me Up is stellar, even with the heavy Ronnie overdub; a few others are pretty

I liked the quote about "he could have been the child of healthnuts", but anyway, bad interviewer (or bad editor): where are all the questions about the album? Why is there no (small) tour? Would he like to bring out some more singles? How does he think this album compare to the latest Stones album? And these are just the first questions that come up, I am sure there are loads of thin

It's nice, it's fun. Doesn't hold a candle to some Chuck Berry covers they did, but it's enjoyable.

Quoteab Never understood people's fondness for Plundered My Soul. No, me neither. I enjoyed it when it came out, because it came from a period in which they were at their best, and it is well played. But it's no mystery why they left it out of Exile on Main Street in the first place. It's okay, at best. That said, it's a lot better - unfortunately - than a lot of stuff they

QuoteGasLightStreet Quotematxil QuoteHairball While they're all standout tracks, I should qualify that by saying I'm probably in the minority in thinking the Chuck Berry covers aren't the greatest. A bit slow and sludgy, and although Keith's riffs are essential, hard to top the Chuck originals imo. With that said, they're party of the overall vibe and what makes the alb

QuoteTops I don't really get what¨s so great about the GYYO version of SFTD. I don't get it. Boring. I very much prefer the LYL-version The RnR-circus version and the one from Hyde Park in 69. Little Queenie 10/10 ??????? But great versions of Stray Cat Blues and Midnight Rambler. The great thing about SFTD is the two solos. How completely different they are but somehow c

I am not very fond of live albums in general, but this is one of the very few live albums I can always listen to. Absolutely perfect. Highlights: Midnight Rambler and Little Queenie. Oh Carol, Love in Vain and Jumping Jack Flash are very good too. Oh, and of course, those so very different two back-to-back solos in Sympathy For The Devil, it never fails to make me smile. The only song I don'

Quotekammpberg when reviewing any album I always think of it in two ways - if you're a big fan of the band versus if you're not a fan of the band. For instance lets say Beggars Banquet. I think Beggars Banquet is a classic great album IF you're a big Stones fan. It's actually a very uncommercial album (actually wasn't even a big seller peaked at like #5 or something).

QuoteHMS QuoteGasLightStreet I listened to Turd 3 times last night. One time overall, 2nd time the melody guitar, 3rd time the vocals. It's a monster of a track. A brilliant mess of intimidation, fantastic lyrics and a great punishing chugging riff run. As Ronnie said, it's great: DINNNNN A NOWW NOWWWWWWW.... How come you dont like Hold On To Your Hat? On first listening, there's nothing special to this song, it could easily be mistaken as filler. But it's not. I don't know exactly where the secret lies, but certainly it's for a large part due to the rhythm guitar, the murky production, and of course Mick Jagger who sounds great on the entire album. When the Stones are good (as they were during EOMS), they can make any song

QuoteHairball So then, what will be the 3rd single? My predictions at this point are as good as anyone else's - it could be any of the above mentioned, could be something else. Just a Gift maybe? Heartstopper? Or perhaps could be none at all....or Nothing on Me, or Something for Nothing... I think the best choice would be one of the "soul-ballad" songs: so Illusion, Su

Interesting and good choice, Love Overdue as the new single. Still, I would have preferred Illusion, as I still think it's the most exceptional song on the album.

I liked it at the time, but I haven't listened to it ever since. I probably wouldn't mind listening to it again, but I also don't feel any need to try. That says it all, really. I even prefer to listen to not-so-good albums like Emotional Rescue or Undercover than Stripped. I think the main problem is that it lacks excitement. I like the "Slipping Away" version on it.

Quote24FPS Finally heard the CD last night, on loan from the local library. For this we have 232 pages? It sounds just like those Expensive Winos CDs from the late 80s, early 90s. No real stand out cut. (I like Bill Wyman's 'What & How & If & Where & Why single better). Keith can still play an impressive acoustic, and his bass playing is better than Darryl. That's
