QuoteDandelionPowderman Which CH-songs would you have liked to hear live? I'd say the title track (imagine if Keith comes out alone with an acoustic doing this number!) + Amnesia, Love Overdue, Suspicious, Nothing On Me, Something For Nothing, Blues In The Morning and Lover's Plea. A setlist like this one would have been cool: Crosseyed Heart Take It So Hard You Don't Mo

QuoteDandelionPowderman QuoteRobbedBlind QuoteDandelionPowderman There are very good songs on both Dirty Work and Bridges To Babylon, hence none of them are the «very poor» records that some posters suggest. Both albums have 4-5 very good songs on them, and that amount of very good Stones tunes make them interesting, imo. Sometimes I wonder why people bother to listen to the Stones, if they

QuoteDoxa "Celebrate"? "We"? So the point of discussing a new Keith Richards album is to celebrate it? And those who don't hail it as a EXILE-like masterpiece - there starts to be a consensus about that among certain suspects here - should stay away and not spoil the party? Like what that LongBeachArena guy did? Usually this kind of mass psychological phenomenon, which ex

Can't understand the dislike for "Too Tight" - a dirty little uptempo rocker with a melodic quality that's simply missing on, let's say, Rough Justice, Oh No Not You Again, You Got Me Rocking, Where The Boys Go and the like. Pure Stones! Well, of the ones yo

Overall I fairly like the album, although the production is a bit too slick and there is too much filler. But I think it's better than Voodoo Lounge and ABB. Flip the Switch ==> OKAY, but the sound could have been fuller Anybody Seen My Baby? ==> OKAY Low Down ==> OKAY, but forgettable (FILLER) Already Over Me ==> OKAY Gunface ==> FILLER You Don't Have to Mean I

I am actually a bit surprised. I always thought that in the beginning Brian Jones was the better guitar player and Keith just more enthusiast than actually technically good. For that reason, I always figured that Brian Jones did most of the solos (except for All Over Now, which was by Keith, and, admittedly, is a fantastic solo). About Brian writing songs with Keith or Mick, I think I read

Maybe things started to go wrong with Jagger, when he started to take singing classes? Back to Crosseyed Heart, I don't know if it's because of singing classes or quitting too many drugs or more self-assurance, but Keith is singing much better on CH than on his previous solo effors, as much as I like those albums too.

QuoteDandelionPowderman Quotekeefriffhards Quotekammpberg I guess that's what makes music so great... yet so individual. I love both Mick and Keith, yet for me what really counts is "turntable" time - what I actually play and I play all four of Micks solo albums way more than Keith's three. I like Talk Is Cheap the best of Keiths with the new one a close 2nd. I understand s

Quotekammpberg There's a ton of anti-Jagger within these 199 pages. And I feel it's unnecessary. I picked Goddess In The Doorway, because it seems to be Jagger's worst rated album here on IORR and my point is even on Jagger's worst album, there are some better songs than the best of Crosseyed Heart. I'm not anti-Jagger as such; there is only one singer in the world wh

QuoteGasLightStreet QuoteRedhotcarpet Im sorry but I dont get it. What's so good about this album? It's real music, not that crap Jagger puts out on his solo albums or with someone else, SuperTurd or whatever it was. Keith's new LP, like his other LPs, is a trip through the history of music based on vibe, rhythm, cadence and melody, only more so with a leathered voice this ti

Quotegallagher After following IORR for the last 15 something years I thought it's time to join the club. And what's a better occasion than Keith's new album. In my opinion it's not an album what will shock the world, but I love it. It's got a great groove and feel over it. That's what important to me. I love almost every song of it, Irene and Blues in the Morning I

Great analysis. Now, I would like to see an in-depth study of "Gold" by Spandau Ballet and how it's actually about cunnilingus. And then "Take On Me" by A-ha, "Love and Pride" by Paul King and "A shoo shi shi" (or whatever it was called) by Kayagoogoo (or whatever they were called). The 80's: such a lovely decade...

It's good when played live by the Winos. It doesn't sound so good (to say the least) on DW. But nothing is as bad as Back To Zero. Even The Reflex from Duran Duran (which apparantly is something worthy to include in iorr discussions?) is slightly less abysmal than Back To Zero. But worse than Too Rude, so there you go: there are at least two songs worse than Too Rude.

QuoteEddieByword First, I really liked and still like Talk is cheap, fairly liked Main Offender (but not as much as TIC) but...so far, I can't get into this new one at all, a couple of nice rhythms here and there but nothing extraordinary - relative to other Stones/solo output. First time I played it I fell asleep, the second time I got bored after 8 tracks and took it off............I

QuoteKatieGirl QuoteKoen QuoteMartinB I like Irene. There, I said it. Me too! Make that me too! Yes, here's another one. If I would have to describe the song in one word (why? never mind why), it would be "charming", or - in two words - "utterly charming".

Start Me Up because Ron looks hilarously bad and Mick Jagger is very funny on it. One Hit, because of the whole athmosphere. I even like the cheesy mise-en-scene of Mick and Keith fighting. Love Is Strong, it really contributes to the feel of the song.

Aren't there two versions of @#$%& Blues? The acoustic version (the most known one, and the better version really) and the more electric one. And the single version of One Hit is shorter than the album version but that's probably not what you meant.

QuoteSharksWillCry Whenever I post, it tends to kill the thread. It's uncanny, really. It will drop off the first page in no time. For that reason, I don't post much. I like to think of it as the final word. Maybe that's what Mick meant by "Sharks Will Cry". Well, maybe we all have that impression sometimes, but then I think that I must have written something so deeply

When it came out, I kinda liked it, but I haven't listened to it much ever since. I think for anyone who's not a Stones fan, the album sounds almost like archetypical post-70's/post-80's Stones: nothing new, nothing surprising, nothing special, nothing fresh. Stones by numbers. Love Is Strong - Great You Got Me Rocking - Works great live Sparks Will Fly - Okay, but a bi

Truth be told, if I could choose between Keith touring this and next year with the winos to promote Crosseyed Heart, or the Stones making another album and touring on that, I am inclined to choose the first. It's a terrible thing to say, and I hope I'm proved wrong, but I find the chances that the Stones will do something better than Crosseyed Heart are very small.
