"There's a steep decline in the quality of the playing after 13- 15 songs. After 70-80 minutes onstage they do sound tired (imo). SFTD has been a calamity every night". I don't think that's every gig's rule, dcba (and for sure JJF never sounds tired in my ears!). But if you are psychically unwiling to hear the greatest hits of the last list's part, perhaps

Tonstone, personally i hear on the current gigs less "Bum Notes" than my ears have located on some boots from 1978 tour... Of course, is not 1972- 73. But the band still has energy, good "team spirit" and the ability to put on gigs which IMO would be gratifying (at least), even if we were neglecting their age.

It surprises me the fact that people who demand more variety and more "danger" as for the setlists, are usualy the same people who recollect the so called "golden years". But, if i remember correctly the corresponding statistics, on the entire 1978 and 1981 tour the Stones played only 33 and 37 songs respectively. On the current tour, they have already played 31 songs, after j

"Isn't this just a reprint of an article almost a week old?" Exactly, treaclefingers. Peprint of an article published on "Guardian", that, if i remember correctly, was partly reprint of another article, etc, etc... I don't defend the current Stones prices stragedy, of course. But what happens with the Press is just ludicrous! What comes after? Let's suppo

"Proudmary" announces here John Fogerty. What a nice coincidence! BTW I'm feeling goooood, because my second most favourite band is CCR... Enjoy all the northamerican gigs, lucky bastards! I have to wait until the european tour's leg, whatever will this be...

"I do not really understand this logic. If the tickets would cost 150-200$ since the beginning and the arena was full -it would be okay. But full arena with some people who had been there for 150-200 dollars instead of 600 makes the audience as if non-existent?" You hit the nail on the head, proudmary!

"If AEG loses lots of money, no other promoter will give the Stones what they currently ask as guaranteed pay. Which means no fall tour, no european tour, no whatever tour..." Firebird, i tried to argue that, by these ticket prices, even after the $85 offering the two gigs have been more profitable than what they would be by a "regular" ticket stragedy. I don't defend

"Yes, there's a good crowd - certainly not half empty in terms of "bums on seats". But it might be half empty in financial terms". I 'm doubtful of it, Green Lady. I think that, by these high prices, the gross prifit is still substantial, even after the $85 tickets offering. Of course, as you say, a lot of people didn't pay the full prices. But a 18,000 -19,0

Tonyz, we have the same personal preferences... "Dead Flowers" and "All Down The Line", on the same night, is the definition of the exact meaning of the word "happines" to me... Can't wait for the european leg of the tour, whatever dimension that leg will have. BTW, what about all these "experts" and "prophets of evil" who have forese

OK, they sold more $85 tickets at the last minute and filled the venue. So what? That does mean people were interested in the gig until the last minute, waiting for much better prices. But we have a fact here: some "experts" around, columnists and others, were anticipatating "half empty" venue, "explaining" (among other fooleries) why the Stones could not (!) offer

Admirable version, despite my personal preferences... I mean, "ER" never was among my most favourite Stones songs and, in addition, two "pure disco" numbers ("ER" amd Miss You) on the same playlist is a kind of excess to my taste. But no complaints, it's only personal taste.

Really wondering how strange our thoughts are sometimes... You mention the fourth Stones gig in Chicago (on an extremely cold night, if i remember correctly) and, at the same time, their third visit in the city, during ABB tour. Earlier the

Very good album, indeed. IMO, ABB is slightly better than B2B, slightly lower than Voodoo Lounge and clearly superior than Steel Wheels. I know, many fans disagree, but that's my opinion and my appreciaton of the albums of the post-1989 era. (Steel Wheels 6/10, VL 8,5/ 10, B2B 7,5/10, ABB 8/10)

On every Stones tour, the gigs i have seen varied from "very good" to "fantastic" and the vast majority of them was close to the highest levels of the "scale". So, every Stones tour was great, to me. Consequently, the least great Stones tour was 2012 "small" tour...

treaclefingers, your thought could be a strong anti- Stones argument: "The only reason why 'Grrr!' sells well is that this horrible gorilla does terrorize the customers in the stores. Shame on you, Stones..." I think some "censuring all the time" funs could claim something like that, too...
