Mick destroys Elvis.....as a showman, as a musician, and certainly as a songwriter. Elvis is all show and sparkle, that is it. If he resurrected today I wouldn't walk to the end of my block to see him.

Quotedmay Turn On Your Lovelight is a great tune. Check out the original by Bobby Blue Bland. I love Bland's original! but the Dead's cover with Pigpen growling through some of those phrases really turned me into a Pigpen head

QuoteHairball Really? In a recent thread that had lists of American bands/artists that were great and made an impact, I don't remember seeing Aerosmith being mentioned once. Are we talking about the same America? AMEN

Good lord, what a joke. Years from now, Aerosmith will be a blip on the rock history radar. Pretty generic rock band. They play all the right chords and entertain people, yet make no real mark.

I love the dead. They are third for me. Rolling Stones far and away #1, Dylan #2....and the Dead are right there at 3rd. That said, for me.....they have bad patches (roughly '84-'95)....as does Dylan (mid 80's, 'Triplicate', xmas album). What brought me to the Dead was the Blues. Pigpen. Their cover of 'Turn On Your Lovelight'. For those that don'

Official releases mixed in with bootlegs in chronological order, though 'archive' releases are put with their respective live years, rather than release years. Solo albums follow, then compilations that feature various members (i.e. 'Pay Pack and Follow', 'Boogie 4 Stu'). Some of you have mentioned the idea of compilations being separate. I might adopt that sty

These days the market is overflown with Chinese boxes. They look very much the same as normal European one. Official EU box sealed has mass 960 gr. I do not know about Chinese one but known fact abou

Well, I'm a weirdo evidently. Beatles aren't even in my top 10, and I'm 42. Stones #1 by a country (or should I say moonlight) mile. 2nd place and beyond are a blur of many..... Bob Dylan, Wilco, Grateful Dead come to mind. But Beatles, nope. I like them a lot.....but very little of their work is "desert island" stuff for me.

Holy Hell, this album is killer. I expected to like it, but I didn't expect to be surprised by it. I literally looked at the speaker during 'All Of Your Love' and yelled "goddamn" to myself. Mick sounds like he's 25 at times. There's moments that sound like 'Jamming With Edward' even. This collection is truly an inspiration.

'Crossfire Hurricane' is a disappointment, for one VERY important reason. Absolutely NO mention of Ian Stewart. He is only briefly seen in a few clips. As Bill Wyman pointed out in '25 x 5'....it was Brian and Ian who formed the band. How do you not include him?

I don't mean to start up a new thread on the Singles Box (1971-2006)...I tried multiple searches and couldn't get the old threads to pop up....I know it's been talked about quite a bit. BUT..... I am one of those who never pulled the trigger back in 2011, and have been looking for it either used or new (but reduced in price) and I just saw that it's going for $90 used, b

As someone who saves/collects ticket stubs, does anyone know if these "3D collector tickets" are worth the extra $10? Are they bigger than regular tickets? I guess other bands have used them, but I've never really seen one. Honestly, if the Stones did something like this, I'd likely do it without hesitation....but with this....I don't know.

Funny enough, my CDs seem correct, (must have bought it late enough that I avoided the bad batch?), but my BluRay audio drops out near the end of 'Rock and a Hard Place'. Once it happens, if I try to play any other songs (even the previous ones that had played fine) they are also silent. If I restart the BluRay player, everything is back....EXCEPT if I try to play through that same spo

My first Stones "record" was 'Steel Wheels' on cassette tape in the summer of 1989, just before the tour started. Next, I wanted the song 'Start Me Up'. I didn't know what album it was on, but I saw that it was on 'Still Life' so that became my first live "album". I was 15. That fall I saw them live for the first time, and then around Chri

No, it is not Microphony. It is an additional problem. I know what you are talking about. Microphony is on all kinds of "old camera" DVDs. Grateful Dead 'Closing of Winterland' is a good example. Or 'Hampton '81'. This is more of a bandin/rippled ghosting issue that occurs with movement only, which DOES have to do specifically with the Japanese edition..

Well, I broke down and bought the SD-BluRay here in the States after having bought the Japanese version.....and sure enough, in case anyone might still be curious....the U.S. BluRay, despite having some "lines" (as previous screen grabs have shown) does not suffer from the same ghosting, interlacing issues that plague the Japanese edition. Damn. Spent a lot of money to reach that concl
