QuoteDandelionPowderman Quotefloodonthepage Well, I finally got the "Voodoo Lounge Uncut" release, and can officially report that it is not truly "uncut", so the name of this release is somewhat ironic. I remember watching the pay-per-view live in 1994, and during "Honky Tonk Women", a certain fan decided to show the world what God gave her, and of course it was a t

I finally sat down to watch the newly restored "One Plus One"....Ouch. Major jerky panning issues, at least on the tight pans in the magazine store, not so much in the studio scenes. WTF? Transfer issue? The sound is dramatically improved, so there's that at least. And the extras are nice. Packaging also better than older edition.

I've never heard the "Actin Strong" boot, but this official Miami release definitely sounds better than the boot I had, the KTS "Miami Dice" release. Now my question to myself is, do I keep "Miami Dice" to have the historically accurate SFTD screw-up? . I already know I have to keep my VHS copy from the pay-per-view for the pre-show backstage interviews with t

QuoteStonedRambler There is a strange background sound on the whole CD when the band ia not playing and the audience sounds really phasey and weird. That happens on my "Tokyo Dome 1990 - From the Vault" CDs too.

I too am a little distracted by the shoddy work on the album cover, especially considering Ronnie has done such great work on other releases, not the least of which being his own "Not For Beginners" and "Live at the Ritz", as well as Clapton's "Crossroads" box set. I do like the idea that some of the proceeds go to 2120 S. Michigan Avenue, though.

Someone commented that the disappearance of Jagger's albums might be due to an impending re-issuing of his catalog, but referred to this possible conclusion as a "new remastering again". I still only have the CBS/Columbia editions of "She's the Boss" and "Primitive Cool" and the Atlantic "Wandering Spirit" and the Virgin "Goddess in the Do

QuotePaintitBlue Quote35love Open air in May people are worried about? Nahhh. Look at the football fans in the Winter for cryin’ out loud. (^subliminal message for songs ‘Winter’ ‘Worried About You’) It's not the crowd comfort that worries me....it's the near 80 yr old men on stage outdoors in early May. It makes me pause and wonder is all...I know there was a lot of chatter from

QuoteRocky Dijon QuoteHairball I do understand what you're saying Rocky, but that's sort of giving them a handicap..."it's great considering how old they are"...or "they're way past their prime, but it's still great considering their old age"...is that being fair? People compare old Monet to young Monet (for example), and usually don't say "

QuoteRocky Dijon The Wall is symbolic of the mental block fans have in accepting these are men in their seventies. They want to contrast Mick's present creative drive with GODDESS IN THE DOORWAY, an album written and recorded when Mick was in his fifties. Think about that for a moment. Think of someone in their fifties vs. someone who is 75. Try and let that sink in. It does matter. They are

I got excited when I saw this, and then realized it was a book. Albeit, a fine looking and probably great book. But I was hoping the post was going to announce that the film was finally getting a restored, perhaps even "Criterion" treatment....considering another Roeg film, "The Man Who Fell to Earth", has already received such a treatment, and "Performance" far out

"Some Girls Deluxe" disc 2 is technically "new" (official) material from 2011 (with the exception of "So Young", though it's a new version I guess), so in that sense, it's kind of a "Tattoo You,Two" . That actually might be a good name for the 2nd disc if/when they ever do a "Tattoo You" deluxe. So 2011! Only 8 years! A stretch

I've never understood the appeal of KISS, facepaint or no facepaint. I suppose it's the spectacle of it all. Though their cover of "2000 Man" on their MTV Unplugged album a number of years ago (I think during the paintless era?) is interesting.

I keep my ticket stubs in plastic mylar pages (designed for sports cards) in a three ring binder. Overkill, some might say....but it's fun to page through once in a while. As for discarded stubs, someone once gave me their Chicago '81 stub, knowing I was a big fan. Maybe weird to have a stub to a show I never saw, (I didn't see them until '89) but....

Most talented? Beatles, I suppose. Technically. Best/favorite, for me personally? The Rolling Stones.....by a Moonlight Mile. People have asked why I love the Stones so much, which could be another thread if it hasn't been one already. It's hard to put into words, but its the whole arc of the music and the story. They hit me in the soul like nobody else. Are they the mos

Being completely obsessed with the Stones, I can't imagine watching such a film without some degree of "but they didn't do this" "but they didn't do that", etc.....though at the base level, there damn well better be an Ian Stewart, which is more than "Crossfire Hurricane" can say. Still urks me that he factors nowhere in that doc.

The transition happened over the course of my first show in November 1989. I went into it knowing only a few songs and by the end, as people were filing out of the stadium I stood staring at the stage as it was being loading out, thinking "I've got work to do"....and so the collection and obsession began to build. Now 21 shows and thousands and thousands of dollars later (and alo

Quotefloodonthepage Well, after over two years of consideration and waiting, I think I'll finally buy this set. I had hoped these Mono albums would be released individually (as I believe it was initially reported that they would be?) just so I could buy mono albums up through TSMR, what with BB and LIB not being Mono in the first place (sans 'Sympathy'). Alas, it seems a la cart

Quote35love I hope Artist Ron Wood designs The Next New Rolling Stones Album. YES!! That would be so great. His artwork on albums like his solo records "Gimme Some Neck", "Live at the Ritz" and "Not For Beginners" and Clapton's "Crossroads" box set are classic to me.

I kind of like 'Steel Wheels' art. It reflects a "steely" cold sentiment for me. I also like 'Stripped', definitely their best of the modern, post 'Dirty Work' era....and I agree that 'Dirty Work' is a good cover and well reflective of it's own time, though I think the 'Bigger Bang' cover accomplishes that too. I think worst of

Quotekeefriff99 It's a fantastic show...Keith is in absolutely top form. I wish the picture quality was a bit cleaner, but you can't expect perfection from a nearly 20 year old show. Highly, highly recommended. Indeed, he was in top form! Too bad he couldn't drown out the back-up singers (who are usually fine) on that "Sympathy" encore.

Agreed, 'Beggars' re-issue is a let down, but the restored "Sympathy for the Devil" film is exciting, and DEFINITELY the new RnR Circus...the strange plastic jewel case/packaging on that '96 edition has long since become unglued!
