We felt at the time it was Goat's Head Soup. The Satanic imagery was trying too hard to be "bad," as well as pushing "Dancing with Mr D" on the radio (which took off, to use a Keithism, like a lead balloon), few people were into it at the time--in terms of mainstream popular culture--except for Angie, and in those days many people would happily tune into (and buy) singles

QuoteRocky DijonThey may have been thinking of Chrissie Shrimpton putting Mick's letters up for sale or Marsha Hunt, more recently. Thanks, Rocky Dijon--could be. Or that 3-4 of Brian's letters to Linda Keith sold at auction, at one point. It could be presumed it was she who sold them, tho most things to do with Brian and that whole era tend to be kinda flaky. QuoteRocky Dijon Linda Keith's partner for the past 50 years, John Porter produced "Paying the Cost" for BB King and The Stones during the BRIDGES TO BABYLON sessions. More recently, he produced "Anyone Seen My Heart" for The Brothers Jagger. I would imagine there has been some passing contact between them. Happily, some things remain private. Indeed, Rocky Dijon - in f

Quotelem motlow I’ve read more books about Jimi Hendrix than I have the Stones. Linda Keith has a pivotal role in his life, she dumped her boyfriend Keith Richards for him and introduced him to Chas Chandler who became his manager and took him to England. They put the Experience together and that was it. Richards, in an act of jealousy called her father and said she was hanging out with a shad

QuoteMore Hot RocksIt’s mentioned in the first post and post title. I guess you missed it No, dude...you clearly missed it. I do understand English isn't everybody's first language, and that not everyone reads well, nor is familiar with the New Orleans Jazz Funeral concept. As I said...not literally do that, but the TENOR--the vibe, the feel, the essence, the musical arch--of the

Thanks, Rockman - I didn't realize people would think I was suggesting literally having Charlie's funeral on tour. I simply meant the tenor of the evening starting out slower, mellower, and sadder, and leading to full-throttle celebration--which is what a New Orleans Jazz Funeral is. ............................. DESCRIPTION OF NEW ORLEANS JAZZ FUNERAL The music and dancing

QuoteRockmanYes ... total respect ... hi Rockman, I'm thinking I must not have been very clear, because my suggestion was anything but disrespectful. Playing a concert that starts out with sadder more somber tunes and crescendos to a celebration of life, joy, and living...? That's what I was saying. I tend to write too much so it must have gotten lost in all my turgid prose.

QuoteCooltoplady Wow. God help me how tacky Sorry - you're saying my idea is "tacky"...? How so? I'm thinking you must not have understood what I conveyed, which is the farthest thing from "tacky." Clearly, I didn't mean or say a literal jazz funeral march -- but the emotional tenor of one -- starting sad and wending its way to exuberant and celebratory.

hi all - since Charlie died (still gives me a jolt to realize that), I've been wondering about the tenor and vibe of the upcoming tour and concerts. How will they pull off jumping around singing and dancing---while also acknowledging the reality of this profound loss? Obviously, there'll be a Charlie tribute video to start things off. Or maybe multiple videos, possibly interspers

The past few days in Boston have been gorgeous. The band was rehearsing Friday in Allston, and sounded good from outside - tho quite faint. A couple of fans were leaning and loafing at ease, nearby, unobtrusively. I happened to be in Boston for biz and, with limited time, swung by briefly to see whether there was any activity. On my way back out of town this afternoon drove by and no one was ther
