QuoteLynd8 Pete and Roger have signed limited editions of this forthcoming Buddy Holly book for you well heeled fans. It's big price tag but it's for charity at least. Unless its not stated, which I find hard to believe, I dont see Sir Paul's involvement here which is odd considering how big of a Buddy Holly fan he is.

I love Floyd, probably in my top 5. Favorite album is Animals, although I enjoy Nick Mason's Saucerful of Secrets project in playing pre-DSOTM songs. That being said, I'm not as fond of The Wall as I once was. Its got some great moments, but the last 1/4th drags for me (e/g after Pink becomes a dictator); The Trial sounds like an Andrew Lloyd Weber thing. The Final Cut isnt bad, how

Quoteloog droog This is a great little 8-minute video about a fan's encounter with Keith Moon and The Who in 1968. It's well worth your time. When I was younger we went to Indiana Beach a lot. When I read The Who played there, I didn't believe it!

I had read somewhere that Love Me Do was important because at the time very few pop bands wrote and played their own material, so Love Me Do was one of the first self-contained songs by a pop band.

Quoteboogaloojef I prefer the reissue Rolled Gold + to Hot Rocks. Rolled Gold + has every song on Hot Rocks + some more charting songs from More Hot Rocks and a few not on either compilation like Little Red Rooster and I Wanna Be Your Man. The one thing that always bugged me about Hot Rocks was the exclusion of The Last Time.

Who’s version would The Who have heard before covering this? Mose Alison's original. There is a boot of The Who doing this song in a fashion closer to Alison's from 1964. They revived it in late 6

QuoteCooltoplady Quoteschillid Love the Monkees, many of their songs, their albums... But if they didn't really play on those cuts, then why should they be in a R&R Hall of Fame? As I just posted. The Wrecking Crew did all the music for The Mamas and Pappas and they are in the hall By the same line of thought the Wrecking Crew played on most of the Beach Boys classics as well (Goo

I'm wondering if it wasn't something to do with taxes or local restrictions. The Who also played East Troy in 1989 in lieu of a Chicago Date. Paul McCartney chose Rosemont instead of a Chicago venue also in 1989.

Now I have all of the 2002 remasters but am considering the redundancy in my collection. Is there any need to keep the 2002 remasters if I have the Mono Set? Thanks! I see that it seems to be because it was "pop" like, which is what I had kind of guessed. Still its a weak start, fortunately they were able to improve upon it within a year.

16. Come On
It always perplexed me why the Stones would chose to make Come On their first single. As Chuck Berry covers go, this song always struck me as the weakest song. Further, looking at their sets at the time they had many other songs that would have made stronger debut singles and probably more representative of their sound at the time. So why Come On as their debut single?

QuoteCristiano Radtke Yesterday, everyone knew The Beatles. Today, only Jack remembers their songs. He’s about to become a very big deal. From Academy Award®-winning director Danny Boyle (Slumdog Millionaire, Trainspotting, 28 Days Later) and Richard Curtis, the Oscar-nominated screenwriter of Four Weddings and a Funeral, Love Actually and Notting Hill, comes a rock-n-roll comedy about music, dre

An average singer? Seriously? As for not writing songs -

I'm not a revisionist but I have always felt Revolver is the better album between it and Sgt Peppers. Revolver seems less dated. This is not to say Pepper is not a great album. just that Revolver seems to be the album where the Beatles truly became the "Beatles", they stopped trying to be folk rock (Rubber Soul) or covering old rock and roll and country other material and started t

Id Like to add Queen and Queen II. Prior to Queen's fame their first two albums rock hard (almost as hard as Zeppelin at times). There is some very good material on the first couple albums such as Keep Yourself Alive, Great King Rat, Son And Daughter off the first album and Father to Son, and Seven Seas of Rhye from Queen II. These albums have the Queen sound heard later but with much heavie

Quoteloog droog I like The Who By Numbers as well. Last two weeks I've been listening to It's Hard in the car. I think there is some great stuff on that album. Daltry has rarely sounded better. It's Hard is not as bad of an album as some have made it out to be. I like Cry if You Want. When The Who performed it with My Generation a few years ago it kind of drove home the poin

The Who By Numbers-An antithesis to the bombast of Quadrophenia By Numbers is bright sounding, but lyrically very dark (probably amongst the Who's darkest lyrics and that includes Entwistles Success Story). Still a great album, the best song is Dreaming From the Waist, great bass playing by John Entwistle.

One question I've always wondered: what happened to Queen in the US in the 80s? After the 1982 tour they never toured North America with Freddie again. Its like they were hot in the 70s then in the early 80's, poof their popularity dissipated despite being popular every where else in the world. Any ideas why?

I think its a testament to Ron Malo and Chess Studios that the Chess Sessions are some of the best sounding Stones recordings of the Mid-60s. That echo is awesome. Since listening to Try Me, I've went back and listened to the Chess sessions and they sound amazing. Like Sun Studios or Motown, you can tell the Echo is natural as opposed to the artificial sounding echo that was created by the l
