QuoteRockmanHey that's wild!!!.....It's kinda like if ya could only hear the vibrator at a 10 girl orgy... Beautifully put Sir. And I agree - so what if Keith was all over the shop. Hearing his guitar in isolation is a treat. Sounds like pure rock'n'roll to me.

Stop Breaking Down would be great IMO - Keith would kick it off of course and they could groove on the opening chord for a while. A chance for Mick to play harp too - which is never a bad thing. It would be a great tribute to their roots. Plus it would be pretty hard for Keith to f*** it up.

I saw him a couple of weeks ago in London. He's definitely lost some of the magic - kind of seemed like he was on auto-pilot. His health problems obviously have a lot to do with this. Having said that Johnny Winter on auto-pilot is still better than most.

QuoteWeLoveYouI also agree mostly about Mitch, but I will defend his playing. He has a syncopated drumming style, he never plays a straight beat, he plays around, before and after the beat like a jazz drummer, and this was pretty much his style at the gig. His duet with Terry was great I thought. It’s a shame he was acting the fool though, and I agree that his drumming wasn’t always appropriate o

QuoteSmokeyMany thanks for all your reviews. By the way, this was billed as a commemoration of his first US tour with the Bluesbreakers: 1. is he taking this show to the US (w/ or w/o Mitchell)? 2. were any Bluesbreakers songs played? If he does take it to the states hopefully they'll have the courtesy to rehearse first - and Mitch will stay at home. (Shame really but Mitch seems

I was there too - and it was an absolute embarrassment. Mitch Mitchell looked (and played) like someone who'd been let out of a nursing home for the day - he's clearly lost the considerable talent he once had. I was right at the front so could see what was going on. Mick shouted at him several times to 'F*** off' but he was obviously not listening. Eventually one of the stage

Quoteguitarbastardrick rubin. no one else! I agree - although Rick Rubin is the sort of producer who speaks his mind and will tell the artist when their material is sub par - not because he's an arsehole but because he loves music and always trys to get the best out of people. With Mick Jagger being such a control freak I can't see it working unfortunately. Rick Rubin producing Sweet

If you've got nothing to say - don't say it. Artistic integrity? Like when they were doing greatest hits tours 20 years after the release of their most recent album because their bass player coul

QuoteT&Awas just listening to a fine recording of Burdon's one-off reunion with War (at least the band that tours as War these days) last week at the RAH - KILLER performance. Burdon is still "da man." Hi T&A - can I ask where you came upon this fine recording? I was at that gig and would love to hear it back again.

Apologies if this has been posted before: Ron (full of New Year's spirit) did Jools a few years back, accompanied by Slash -and naked streaker! The atmosphere in the studio was clearly all the more rock and roll due to Ron's presence - the whole band on this show would be so great...

Quoteablett"Considering they haven't played together for 37 years" With one original member? That's a fair point ablett! Ok - Eric and Lonnie haven't played together (under the guise of War) for 37 years. Anyway, it was a kick-arse performance. Thanks for the link Lukester.

Quotewhitem8Wow! sounds amazing!!!! So what other songs did the do off of Declares War? And Lee Oskar isn't playing harp with them? That is a disappointment if true, he is one of the best harp players ever. Yeh - unfortunately the great Lee Oskar wasn't there - but his replacement did an admirable job. Didn't catch his name in the introductions. They did everything off of &

Saw these guys at the Albert Hall last night. Phenomenal. The band played a few numbers to get warmed up without Eric - although the only original member is Lonnie Jordan (keyboards) it really sounded and felt like the War of the early '70's. Then Eric came on (all 5 ft 3' of him!) and blew the roof off. What a voice! Made Tom Jones sound like a nervous choir boy. They did

QuoteLOGIE Mick Taylor and Keith: quote] Sorry to repeat the photo - but this is such a great shot. Keith with that thousand-yard stare and Mick Taylor looking cooler than he ever did than in the band. Interesting that he was on sociable terms with them so soon after the split - I (incorrectly) thought there was more acrimony involved.

Saw him last month in London. Awesome. Some great surprises in the setlist too... Mellow my mind - on banjo! A Man needs a maid. Ambulance Blues. I've seen him several times and this was one of the best. He plays everything with such passion - and his voice and guitar playing are as great as they ever were.

Quotestoned in washington dcman there's no way keith could play that today! don't you guys notice how much cleaner he was playing back then? He wouldn't need to play it today! Ronnie would cover it all and Keith would do the occasional power chord and the same lame 3 note solo he plays on every song these days. Shame really.

>> The question then is what was expected to be the benefit of having so many cameras. << I guess because Scorsese's 'manifesto', if you like, on this film was to let the performance be the narrative. And so he needed to have all those cameras to allow us, the audience to be like a fly buzzing around the band as they play and not miss any element of the interplay bet

I agree with the Telegraph. SAL is definitely not a 'Scorsese film' in the way that his others are. A large part of that may be due to the fact that the performance element of the film (which is obviously most of it) was shot so spontaneously. With The Last Waltz (The Band's mid-70s farewell gig for those umfamiliar) all the songs were agreed way before the shoot and they were

Yep - I second Muddy Waters Folk singer. Awesome. And 'Hard Again', the first of Muddy's 'comeback' albums is incredible. Also: Robert Johnson (Absolutely essential!)- The Columbia 2 disc set is as good as any. Freddie King - Getting Ready Little Walter (Muddy's harp man) - Blues with a feelin' Chess complilation

QuoteUrbanSteel The band admit she was an unknown quantity for them but they were all wowed by her voice. Don't think Keith gave a sh*t - you can see in the film when she goes to kiss them all after the song's over, he's like, 'yeah whatever'. Would have been nice to have seen Lisa F given more of a spotlight on this one - she came across really well throughout the w
