QuoteSpud Oh no . It'd be a bit soon for me . I only just got over '76 ! Probably one of the most tiring days of my life...and I had bit more energy when I was 16. Nah, you'll be fine. 55 for a Stones gig? Easy peasy I'm 48 btw and I'll be gigging till I drop >< Will travel in from Swindon for this, whenever it takes place. You'll be there and y

That's an impressive 16 song set list we've worked up so far. I'd pay good money to see a set list like that . No further comment from Mr Vik since 2 early and somewhat positive posts, although in fairness, he's extremely busy with work as well as following the tour.

Quotedesertblues68 There definitely should be a Stones merchandise stall at the County Fair as so many of us fans have booked rooms or hope to be in the area on that day An excellent idea . Why don't we all go in our tongue T-shirts anyway, Stones gig or not 7 pages now and what twists and turns this thread has taken

Can someone Photoshop the Stones' lips and tongue onto that Cow ? Perhaps they could use it as their official gig poster

Deltics, you make a very valid point about not upsetting farmers for fear of losing repeat business. I'd imagine the organising of the Country Show began after last year's ended. Still, we are long, long overdue a large scale Stones gig in their home country, be that the same venue on a different weekend or a different venue altogether. Said Farmers may not take kindly to being bumped f

QuoteNikkei Shidoobees at the Country Fair? I figured they'd be mostly splattered all over Manhattan. Nope, a lot of Shidoobs are European & Brits just as many IORRians are North Americans.

Rocks Off and Shidoobee both have their own threads on the story. They are already selling tickets for this country show it seems.

Hear! Hear! What would the moaners prefer ? Thst they didn't tour at all? If so, they can sit at home and reminisce about the olden days. Absoloutely spot on the citadel. They are in their 70s so they tour on their own terms. I personally like the short bursts of mini tours idea very much.

I wonder if this thread is entirely responsible for the spike in hotel bookings in the Stevenage and Knebworth area. I too, have my fingers firmly crossed for a gig but it is getting s little silly. As long as those who've booked hotels can cancel without loss then fine. I'm booking nothing until confirmed. Ah well, 11,000+ hits, 7 pages and no outright dismissal from Bjornulf as ye

Easy enough for you Martha - I thought you were based in London ? I'd drive across from Swindon in the wee small hours and camp out from 6am. No accomodation needed for me Just bring a kagool in case it rains. I too am tentatively hopeful here. The band do read this so hopefully it will reassure them that sufficient demand is there for a big gig and persuade them.

Martha, Bjornulf has added the rumour to his News page and he said something along the lines of "his plans for an uphill race in Norway will have to go that weekend if this happens". In the past, if a rumour is clearly nonsense, he has tended to come out and say so. He hasn't here and has quietly referred to it a couple of times. That leads me to firmly believe that the Stone

Yeah I know They did club shows in London on the VL, BtB and Licks Tours though so nothing's impossible. If they did a show as big as Knebworth I'd imagine they might want to do a club show in advance to oil themselves up, if they've been off the road a month. Good point re 'Plenty of Summer'. If something does happen, I'd think it would be the UK rather than E

I don't think they've played there since 1966 Tony, although someone please correct me if I'm wrong. It all comes down to the Promoter. If a Promoter offers enough loot for them to do Knebworth,I think it'll probably happen. I hope it's not the catastrophic AEG. Unfortunately I note they are doing the Who in Hyde Park. They've done better by me than last time t

Fantastic! We're booking hotels, checking train timetables and car hire costs and still no gig anounced yet. I'm off to join Nate in the queue after work tonight. Only 9 weeks' more waiting Come on guys! How about goin' home to your home country. You've not played here in 2 years and we Miss You. ><

QuoteNate I might go to Knebworth now and wait for the gates to open for this gig to make sure I get in the front row. Nate >< See you up there Nate. I live near Swindon so that should be a couple of hours. Best stake a place in the queue before The hordes arrive as soon as it's announced Even if it isn't maybe we can hire a tribute band and re-enact the whole 1976 thing >

Indeed not. A good few of us tried to sleep at the main entrance before Hyde Park 1, 2 years ago but the Police asked us to leave before letting us back in at 4am. Anyonw know a Dutch guy known as 'Voodoo Head' as he has an outfit that mimcs Mick's Voodoo Lounge Costume worn for SFTD and wears a big black hat covered in badges ? He was one of them After that, the queue built up

There are a fair few posters on here who were at the original show in 1976, in a much bigger crowd than is likely to be set this time (if it happens). Secondary Market Basher Extraordinaire PaulyWaul (and I support his rants btw) for one. Perhaps you can enlighten us ? I know some even slept at Stevenage Railway Station until the 1st train to London the next morning. The site is right next t

Corriecas, I think Nate may just be suggesting that Stevenage is a bit of a dump. I've never been, but it does have s poor reputation. But then again, I work in (but thankfully don't live in) Swindon, which has s similar reputation...

It's held in early July too, not the time frame the Stones are rumoured to be looking at. I presume you're a relative youngster here Nate ? I've never even heard of Sonisphere !

Ummmm, I notice that story was published on the Somisphere website on 16 January 2015 i.e. 5 months ago Hopefully the family who own Knebworth are looking for something else to fill the gap. When they played there in '76, Mick stayed at the house and left a pair of (unwashed!) red underpants behind. The owners put them in the safe. Maybe Mick wants them back

There were certainly a good few German Stones fans in the Park that I could hear. I met one guy from Hamburg at Show 1 who'd been to about 30+ since 1982! I've made the opposite journey too - saw the Licks shows in Berlin & Hamburg.
