HARD KNOX AND DURTY SOX Who remembers that phrase? It was on the inner sleeve of Let It Bleed. What did it mean? I for one, never understood. The admonition "THIS RECORD SHOULD BE PLAYED LOUD"... that part, I understood.

If you take your old vinyl copy of Satanic Majesties, set the speed at 78 rpm, then put the needle right after "See this all together (S.w.h.)" ... there's a weird bit that turns out to be "We wish you a merry Christmas" Strange but true.

Like the ancient art of weaving (and the Rolling Stones themselves, with their concerts for causes), the ancient art of fundraising has been practiced for centuries. Here's a strange fundraising performance by Bob Dylan featuring his son-in-law, Peter Himmelman. A unusual song choice for the two relative rockers.

I am also struck by the simplicity of these dressing area requirements... But it all says nothing of the true lifestyle on the road of these kings of rock n roll road life. They can certainly afford opulence within their pipes and fine drapes.

One day in March 2006, I read some really shocking news on the Internet. The Rolling Stones were going to be playing a charity concert the next night at Radio City Music Hall. How could I possibly have not known about this before? "Guess who's playing at a benefit concert tomorrow night at Radio City Music Hall" I said to my wife at dinner. When I told her it was the Rolling Stones

I remember when it was MATCHES... cheering... waiting for the band to come back for the encore... the match burning closer and closer to your fingertips... quickly drop it and light another one... or, the entire-matchbook-at-once technique...
