I think we native English speakers around here are very privileged... ...and we're all greatly in awe of the wonderful command of our language demonstrated by the folks in other lands.

Took me a while to appreciate Flashpoint. It marked a whole sea-change in the way they played and presented songs on the stage. It wasn't my favourite, rough and ready, best pub band in the world any more... ...and, at the time, I didn't very much like that !

Not sure what there may or may not be in the can...but I wouldn't mind hearing any stuff that didn't make it onto John's Rock N Roll album... ..which remains for me one the most affectionate and enthusiastic tributes to their roots from any artist I can think of.

For me , just about every album becomes my "flavour of the month" from time to time... and gets played to death for a while . Some albums cycle round more often than others I suppose , but I think HD will continue to visit my turntable quite often in the longer term.

Scary ! Real technophobe here... In 18 years I haven't really learnt to work this one yet ! But if we don't see and appreciate all the hard work and time BV has put in over the years , then we've had our heads up our backsides and we should welcome anything that lessens that burden for the future.

I suspect some folks think that musicians only like and listen to the same kind of music they write and play. I'm more inclined to think that the very best are often as good as they are because their tastes and influences are varied.

Quite so . It may not have some the greatest songs that they or others have ever written...but the sound and vibe of the band are right up my street.

QuoteMathijs Quotedanicarton That Flying V ruined the Hyde Park Concert being out of tune for most part of the show...Can someone please set fire to it? That really had a lot more to do with the tuning capabilities of Keith: he was out of tune for most of the 1969 tour. Mathijs Point taken...tuning was perhaps just one thing he was regularly out of

It's just for the most part "over-produced" ...just like the majority of commercially orientated releases these day. I don't mean over-produced as a criticism of the producer in terms of Andrew Watt's evident and excellent contribution to the arrangements and spirit of the album. It's just overengineered and processed... which I'm by now, sadly, res

Quotedanicarton That Flying V ruined the Hyde Park Concert being out of tune for most part of the show...Can someone please set fire to it? ..." The bad workman..." and all that. The issues on that day were substantially due to the ambient temperatures in the dressing/tune up area being very different from those on stage. These days it would all be foreseen and taken ca

Quotetreaclefingers The real shame is that it got sort of buried with Some Girls. This album could have stood on it's own, much like Blue & Lonesome, as an homage to country. That could have given this more deserved visibility. That's what I've often thought and said . The Some Girls "Bonus Material" is genuinely one of my favourite albums... ...a

QuoteGasLightStreet I get it. We get used to what we hear. But grateful it finally got released: it's pretty damn good regardless. So much more they could've done. Misty Roads for one. They finished those blues tunes... really? Not sure why the time, AHEM, effort, was put in to the better songs. Quite so . I love the whole album . Could it have a better track li

QuoteJimmer Quoteharlem shuffle Only Mick and Keith is irreplaceable,no one else (which is basically what Charlie said: that as along as there is Mick and Keith, the Stones should keep rolling as long as those two want / can.) Charlie always made me chuckle . A far as he was concerned, Keith & Mick were the Rolling Stones... it was nothing to do with him . He just helped them

Quotestargroover I think Angry could well kick off the show. They might try it for the first few gigs and if it’s not working switch to SMU or SFM. That's not an entirely unreasonable suggestion... ...which in itself shows how much enthusiasm there has been for HD when compared to other modern era albums.

It's just a fact that virtually everything is overproduced these days... ..and in this Digital age, that ain't going to change anytime soon. Edited to add... I just try to appreciate recordings for how good they still are... and try not to dwell on how much better they could have been.

QuoteDoxa QuoteSpud Well you know what old fuddy-duddies we are in the UK . Takes us a while to warm to things... ...and you can't go on forever not buying somebody's records just because they have long hair and don't tuck their shirts in properly. Well, it looks like you guys loved them at first sight, but then, as they started to gather international interest,
