I thought Juliet, Naked was a nice rebound after How To Be Good and A Long Way Down, both of which I enjoyed reading even though I wound up despising all the characters) but it still can't touch Fever Pitch and About A Boy, which I think are fantastic. Songbook is pretty decent, too - there are some especially affecting passages about his autistic son in there that will just rip you up.

I'm a recent Neil convert and the two that really grabbed me initially were Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere and Harvest - they're both very accessible. Tonight's The Night is much more of a challenge but so worth it. This is my all-time favorite Neil-related clip, though:

Quoteproudmary with Lenny Kaye but what year and where? That looks like Lisa Robinson in the middle, too. I'm guessing '75, somewhere in NYC. Did they do a reception after the flatbed gig or any of the MSG shows?

What a fantastic album - I was just talking about it with a friend this past weekend, saying how I can't stand anything Corgan's been involved with except Celebrity Skin. I haven't spun it in years. That will change right now. Thanks for the reminder!

Hopefully it will be a sequel to Stone Alone and not spend the first half of the book rehashing how much money they made in Cleveland in 1965 and how many girls he shagged in Melbourne the following year.

Quotedcba Quoteslew DCBA - The 1999 No Security Tour was awesome!! Point me to one show that's still awesome after 14 years and I'll believe you... So far I found the 1st Washington night to be rocking (imo). And Pittsburg ain't bad. I went to a bunch of shows that tour and would say that Philly (first night?) and Hartford (again, not sure which night) were the best one. The

What exactly were the circumstances of the photos? Had the cops already done the raid? Or was this the bust where the press was tipped off and actually showed up before the police? Or was this photo taken after the bust - that afternoon or even a day or so later? I don't have any books handy and can't find much online. Thanks!

The '97-'98 shows I saw were tremendous. Mick sounded like Mick and the guitars were louder and punchier than on Voodoo Lounge. I was in the very top row on the 50 yard line at Giants Stadium (Oct. 16? It was the "Factory Girl" show) and had decent seats for the first two MSG shows in Jan. '98. Loud guitars, a varied setlist, strong new material, and an inspired band

Those pics are insane, especially the far shot of him standing on the balcony - that one almost looks photoshopped (even though it's obviously not). Just bizarre.

I was treated to the Willie Weeks/Steve Jordan rhythm section with Ronnie in AC last April and then with Clapton at 12.12.12. They're a fantastic pair. Hopefully, they'll show up on more Stones-related projects soon - they both groove with power!

A couple more: Late winter/early spring '95, I was driving through Cambridge, MA, one rainy Saturday with a friend of mine - we were going record shopping. We were stuck in traffic on a typical narrow street right by Harvard Square (Mt. Auburn, maybe - right by the old House Of Blues). Traffic was lurching forward at random small intervals. The car in front of me went ahead about 10 fe

I've been lucky - I've had a lot of 'em. In the little college town where I went to school, I saw Bowie & Iman at a local burrito shop (he was rehearsing for a tour in my school's basketball arena one summer) and waited for a traffic light to change with a mountain bike-riding Bob Dylan idling right next to my girlfriend and I. He was wearing a hooded sweatshirt (kind

The Sex Pistols. I think it would be just as mismatched now as it would have been 35 years ago. John's voice and banter would piss off the average middle-aged Stones fan to no end and Jones' rude Les Paul roar would bludgeon them into submission. In short, it would be beautiful. Of course, Glen Matlock is now a Face, so I suppose anything's possible.

It's kind of ridiculous to say given that he went down 54 years ago, but had he lived the musical landscape would be a lot different than what it became. Buddy had talent, vision, drive, and balls. And he was damn hip, to boot. I think he's still the biggest loss of the rock & roll era.

WOW. What a find! I've never seen footage with the actual live soundtrack before. NYC looked fantastic in the '70s, though, didn't it?

I never saw the Stones there but I went this past year to celebrate my 40th in style - Sun, Stax, Graceland, BBQ, Beale - and I've never had a better time in my life. Cool people, great food, and music history oozing out of every crack in the sidewalk - What an incredible town!

Quotebasti the best location on the globe Amen. I've seen them there 5 times and there's just something about the Stones at MSG that makes the perfect match. MSG has to be the venue they've played the most over the years outside of the early clubs like the Crawdaddy, etc. What's in second place? Wembley Arena?

Posed for a pic out in front of the Castle when I was in LA a few years ago. Forever Changes is on my short list for greatest album ever. I never got to see Arthur (I finally seriously got into the band literally the week he died) but I did catch Baby Lemonade (who were basically the final line-up of Love) play a set of Love songs with Johnny Echols sitting in on guitar at Maxwell's in

Walk the Village, west to east. Follow Bleeker Street starting at around 7th Ave. - lots of cool shops (record, book, musical instrument, food) and soak up some vestiges of what used to be the bohemian capital of the world. Head north up on Thompson and you'll be at Washington Square Park. Go up to 8th St. and continue east through Astor Place and you'll hit St. Mark's Place. F

It's no longer on youtube but a few years ago there was a late '80s-vintage home video of some pudgy guy with a mullet lip-syching to "Let's Work" outdoors overlooking some mountains. He appeared to be completely serious. I've never laughed harder in my life. That said, Mick's original video is a close second.

"Out Of Control", MSG, 1/14/98. It's the only time I've ever seen him become truly unhinged in person - and it was by far the most intense live music experience of my life. But yeah, "That's How Strong..." from Olympia and "Everybody Wants Somebody" from the Grammys are right up there. Hell, even his intro guesting with U2 at the R&R HOF a
