I recall one of the two first songs, probably diddley daddy, had a bit of a slowdown like the turntable was dragging on the transfer to acetate on the boots I had. Did this new transfer happen to cure that? I always liked this material and thought it made them sound like a pretty mature band. Especially Bright lights, big city. Thanks for the info! jb

isn't that ibc stuff the same as was released way long ago on various boot sources such as Bright Lights Big City? Or was there more to them than was put out on that record? jb

I saw him open for someone (the Animals?) at the Circle Star Theatre in San Jose way back in the late 60s if I remember right. I was basically pretty bored but then again I was into rock and roll and not virtuoso acoustic guitar. jb

Anyone know about this? set to be released later this month Days Of Rage: The Rolling Stones' Road To Altamont Days of Rage DVD His book was certainly good and it had the ring of truth to it, given what I knew of things growing up in Marin county at that time. jb

>There wasn't any collector's circle in 1969 to speak of. This simply isn't true. By 1969 the Rolling Stones had been international celebrities for five years and you can bet your bottom dollar people collected anything they touched or breathed upon. Usually didn't try to sell it though, mostly hoarded it for the memories. So there might not have been much of a collect

I like mopeds, but it is strange Rodney would be fronting pics of his old bandmates when back in the day he insisted on separate airplanes and limousines. rip Ian and Ronnie jb

So, I seem to have missed this bit of history: since this GRRR set (which I never gave a second glance, having all the original material 10X over already) is on the ABKCO label, or affiliate, how is it they are issuing post 60s Stones music? This set is a retrospective of their entire career. Is this release some kind of cooperative effort between ABKCO and the Rolling Stones current publishing c

For me there was really only one version, the long one. Didn't they just chop it up for USA release, on Flowers or somewhere? It made the UK Aftermath something special vs the USA release. But if we start talking about Aftermath, we have to start talking about Flight 505. Now there is a killer. jb

I like the original version. (Edit: by that I mean not the one on metamorphosis...even if that one was recorded first...not familiar with exact timeline) I also like Sad Day. actually I like pretty much anything from this period. It was a tuff period for them but they came through it. jb

you know I have to eat crow on this one then, I thought they had already released atlantic city 89 officially, I guess I was assuming since it was a ppv (wasn't it?) they would have put it out by now. But if not, I am all for the official release. Long ago when I was buying boots I always promised (someone, myself?) that if official versions ever came out I would buy them. I try to still sup

thank you for the clarification on ya yas sources. I did go back and dig through my sticky fingers magazines and found the articles on the album, and it appears, once you dig through a lot of irrelevant analysis, that you are correct about the one track being from Baltimore but the rest indeed from msg one show or another. thanks again jb

>it’s actually quite a feat, to mix and edit three shows down to the final >released Ya Ya’s I do not understand this comment; I was under the distinct impression that Ya Yas, despite what it may claim in the credits, was only partially recorded at MSG. Instead it was a conglomeration of tracks from various stops on the tour, sometimes more than one source per song. In fact I recall so

>Atlantic City is great, though. yeah I agree, but its in pretty common circulation though, isn't it? maybe they will throw some extra stuff on there somehow though. personally I would really love to have at least audio of Capitol Theatre, Passaic NJ 78, "out on bail". Video would be out of this world but clean dynamic audio would suffice. That, El Mocambo video, or

actually, Owsley Stanley foundation do have soundboard masters of the entire day. Very doubtful they will ever see the day but check out Bears Sonic Journals for any hope from that corner. also, my download of the msg shows stalled at 69% (a message there?) and has been in a holding pattern for a couple hours now. kind of a bummer. jb

Whatever you think of it, it has your attention. And that's the point of "art". So in that, I would say it is a very successful piece. I know its not very deep, but its the best I got. jb

aw I missed watching most of those, although I checked a couple when it was first posted. Now they are all gone? Phooey. So there was video of the complete Altamont set? What would the source of that have been, Maysleys bros? Or some other one camera shoot? I really wish I could have seen that. But I believe if those clips were posted by anyone near "official" (with abkco that is)
